Make sure the engine stop switch is in the
(Run) position.

Turn the ignition switch to the (On) position.

Shift the transmission to Neutral (
N
indicator
comes on). Alternatively, pull in the clutch lever
to start your vehicle with the transmission in
gear so long as the side stand is raised.

Press the start button with the throttle
completely closed.
u
If you cannot start the engine, open the
throttle slightly (about 3 mm (0.1 in),
without freeplay) and press the start
button.
If the engine does not start:
a
Open the throttle fully and press the start
button for 5 seconds.
u The engine will not start at this time.
(When the throttle is fully open, the
engine will not start when the start
button is pressed.) Release the throttle
and start button after 5 seconds and
proceed to step 2.

Repeat the normal starting procedure.
c
If the engine starts, open the throttle slightly
if idling is unstable.
d
If the engine does not start, wait 10 seconds
before trying steps a & b again.
