Use genuine Honda parts or their equivalent for maintenance or repair.
Replacement parts which are not of equivalent quality may damage
the water pump.
Shut off the engine before performing any maintenance. If the engine
must be run, make sure the area is well-ventilated. The exhaust
contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas; exposure can cause loss of
consciousness and may lead to death.
Periodic inspection and adjustment of the water pump are essential if
high level performance is to be maintained. Regular maintenance will
also help to extend service life. The required service intervals and the
kind of maintenance to be performed are described in the table on the
next page.
