subsystem

Card
reading
equipment
reads
information
punched
into
tabulating
cards
in
alphanumeric
or
binary
modes
and
feeds
it
into
the
core
store
of
the
central
processor
for
processing
or
storage.

of
reading
speeds
from

to
1200
cards
per
minute
to
meet
his
requirements.

designed

either
round-1
or
square-cornered
cards,
intermixed.

cards
punched

alphanumeric.

decimal,

and
12-row
binary,
formats.

central
processor
computation

output

reliable

punching
equipment
permits
information

central
processor

recorded
