Defrosting Instructions
USING THE FREEZER: DefrostingInstructions
Inmostclimates,defrostingwillbenecessaryonlyabout
twice a year.
Tohaveyourfreezeroperatemostefficiently,donot
permitmorethan1/4”(6mm)thicknessoffrost,on
average,toaccumulateonthewalls.
Toremovefrost,scrapewithaplasticorwoodspatulaor
scraper.
Donotuseboilingwaterasitmaydamagethefreezer.
For Complete Defrosting
1. TurnthetemperaturecontroltofarleftOFFsetting
and unplug the freezer.
2. Removeallfoodandplaceitincorrugatedboxes,
insulatedbags,picniccoolers,etc.Usetowelsand
newspapers for insulation as needed.
3. Placeatray(notincluded)infrontofthefreezer,
beneaththeexteriordrainplugtocollectthewater.
Removetheexteriordrainplugandtheinteriordrain
plug.Thisallowsthewatertoowoutintothetray.
4. Withthelidopen,youmaychoosetousepansof
hottapwater(lessthan120°F)tospeeddefrosting.
Directingairfromanelectricfanintothefreezerwill
alsohelp.Donotplacefanoranyelectricaldevicein
thefreezer.Removelargepiecesbeforetheymelt.
5. Wipewaterfromwallswithatowelorsponge.
6. Afterdefrosting,cleantheinsideofthefreezer(see
CareandCleaning).
7. Replacethedrainplugs.
8. Plug in the freezer. Return
thetemperaturecontroltoits
previouspositionandreturn
food to the freezer.

unit.

Toremovefrost,scrapewithaplasticorwood
spatulaorscraper.Donotuseanicepickorametal
orsharp-edgedinstrumentasitmaypuncturethe
freezerlinerandthentheflammablerefrigeranttubing
behind it.
Donotuseanyelectricaldevicetodefrostyour
freezer.
