Why does ice accumulate on the ribs of the bottom casting of my Howe Rapid Freeze 6000-RL Ice Maker?
    • G
      Gabriela HurstSep 17, 2025
If ice is accumulating on the ribs of the bottom casting in your Howe Ice Flaker, it could be due to a low ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature is below 50°F, try relocating the ice flaker to a warmer area. You might also want to contact Howe about a low ambient kit.

What causes a Howe Ice Maker water pump to stop running?
    • C
      Christopher YoungAug 30, 2025
If the water pump on your Howe Ice Maker isn't running, here are a few potential reasons: * A defective Control Module (CM) could be the cause. Verify 24 VAC is present across Term 1 (purple) and Term 3 (red) at the Control Module (CM). Also, check the voltage between Term 1 and Term 6 (blue). If there's no voltage, the Control Module (CM) may need to be replaced. * Blown fuses might be the issue. Check for control voltage across the FU1 fuses and replace them if necessary. * The Water Pump itself could be defective. Verify control voltage at terminals T1 Pump and T2 Pump in the Control Panel. If voltage is present, the Water Pump may need to be replaced. * Loose wiring can also prevent the pump from running. Check all wire terminals and tighten them as necessary.

What causes a Howe Rapid Freeze 6000-RL Condensing Unit to be off on High Discharge Pressure Failure?
    • S
      sarabauerAug 31, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's Condensing Unit is off due to a High Discharge Pressure Failure, consider these possible causes: * The system may have non-condensables, which should be removed. * The system might be overcharged with refrigerant, so remove any excess. * The fan may not be running. Check the Fan Cycling Control and adjust it as necessary.

What to do if my Howe Ice Maker's ice blade is frozen in place?
    • N
      Nicole PenaSep 1, 2025
If the ice blade in your Howe Ice Maker is frozen in place, here's what you can check: * The Motor Overload setting might be too high. Adjust the Motor Overload setting at the Control Module (CM). * The ice might be freezing too thick or too hard. Adjust the refrigeration to the Ice Flaker. * The Drive Motor may have stopped. See “Drive Motor will not start” above. * The Flex Coupling could be broken. Check and replace the Flex Coupling as necessary.

What causes a Howe Rapid Freeze 6000-RL Ice Maker Condensing Unit to be off on Low Oil Pressure Failure?
    • M
      mfreemanSep 2, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's Condensing Unit is off due to a Low Oil Pressure Failure, here are potential causes: * There may be a lack of refrigerant. Check for leaks and repair them, then add refrigerant. * Refrigerant flood back could be occurring. Adjust the refrigeration to the Ice Flaker. * Improper piping or traps may be present. Correct the piping.

How to fix a Howe Rapid Freeze 6000-RL when ice freezes together in the bin?
    • E
      egarzaNov 28, 2025
If ice is freezing together in the ice bin of your Howe Ice Maker, here's what you can do: * Adjust the Water Regulating Valve so the Water Distribution Pan is halfway full, as the pan might be overflowing. * Clean any debris or blockages from the spouts and ensure they are perpendicular to and within a reasonable distance from the evaporator surface, if water from the Side Spouts or Lead Spout isn't reaching the freezing surface of the Evaporator. * Adjust refrigeration to the Ice Flaker if water is “ramping” off rings of ice formed on the Evaporator. * Check that all drains are flowing freely and pitched away from the Ice Bin, if the Ice Bin is not draining properly. * Use or discard ice within a reasonable time of producing it, if ice turnover is low and Ice Bin inventory has...

Why does my Howe Rapid Freeze 6000-RL Ice Maker keep running when the ice bin is full?
    • N
      Nathan TurnerNov 25, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker continues to run even when the ice bin is full, consider the following: * The Emitter Photo Eye might be defective. Unplug it and wait longer than the Off-Delay setting. If the Ice Flaker stops, the Emitter Photo Eye needs replacement. * A defective Receiver Photo Eye could also be the cause. Unplug it and wait longer than the Off-Delay setting. If the Ice Flaker stops, the Receiver Photo Eye may be defective and should be replaced. * Check the Level Control Relay (LC1) for a wire jumper between terminals #5 (red) and #6 (blue). If there's a jumper, remove it. * The Control Module (CM) might be defective. Remove the wire from Term 3 (red) at the Control Module (CM) and wait longer than the Off-Delay setting. If the Ice Flaker doesn't stop, the Control Module...

How to troubleshoot drive motor issues on a Howe Ice Maker?
    • M
      Michele ChambersNov 26, 2025
If the drive motor on your Howe Ice Maker isn't running or the ice flaker is in an overload condition, consider these troubleshooting steps: * Check the Control Module (CM). Verify 24 VAC is present across Term 1 (purple) and Term 3 (red) at the Control Module (CM). Also, check the voltage between Term 1 and Term 6 (blue). If there's no voltage, the Control Module (CM) may be defective and should be replaced. * Verify the control voltage at terminals T1 Driv and T2 Driv in the Control Panel. If voltage is present, the Drive Motor may be defective and needs to be replaced. * Check if the Sleeve Bearings are seized. Remove the Gear Motor from the Mounting Hub or the Speed Reducer from the Top Casting and try to push the Ice Blade by hand. If the Ice Blade won't move, the Sleeve Bearin...

What causes ice not to harvest on one side of my Howe Rapid Freeze 6000-RL Ice Maker evaporator?
    • J
      John HayesSep 16, 2025
If ice isn't harvesting on one side or an angular section of the evaporator in your Howe Ice Maker, here are a couple of potential causes: * **Sleeve Bearings:** The sleeve bearings might be worn. Remove the speed reducer or gear motor and check for play in the sleeve bearings. Replace them if they're worn. * **Ice Blade Clearance:** The ice blade clearance might be too high. Adjust the ice blade clearance to the proper setting.

How do I fix a Howe Rapid Freeze 6000-RL Ice Maker when the water pump will not run?
    • C
      Cynthia PittsSep 13, 2025
If the water pump on your Howe Ice Maker isn't running, here are a few things to investigate: * **Control Module (CM):** Check that 24 VAC is present across term 1 (purple) and term 3 (red) at the control module (CM). Also, check the voltage between term 1 and term 6 (blue). If there's no voltage, the control module (CM) may be defective and need replacement. * **Fuses:** Check for control voltage across the FU1 fuses and replace them if necessary. * **Water Pump:** Verify control voltage at terminals T1 Pump and T2 Pump in the control panel. If voltage is present, the water pump itself might be defective and need replacement. * **Wiring:** Check all wire terminals and tighten any that are loose.
