What to do if the solenoid valve will not open on my Howe Ice Maker?
    • B
      brobersonAug 25, 2025
If the solenoid valve on your Howe Ice Maker won't open, there are a few things you can check. First, the Control Module (CM) may be defective. Verify 24 VAC is present across Term 1 (purple) and Term 3 (red) at the Control Module (CM). Remove the wires and check for continuity between Term 7 (black) and Term 8 (red); if the contacts remain open, the Control Module (CM) may need to be replaced. Second, the Solenoid Valve itself may be defective. Verify control voltage at the Solenoid Valve wire leads. Third, the Motor Relay (R1) may be defective. Place a wire jumper between terminals #6 (yellow) and #7 (black) at the Motor Relay (R1). Finally, check all wire terminals and tighten as necessary, as loose wiring could be the culprit.

Why does my Howe Ice Maker keep running even when the ice bin is full?
    • E
      Erin SampsonAug 26, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's ice flaker doesn't shut down when the ice bin is full, several issues could be responsible. The Emitter Photo Eye may be defective, so unplug it and wait longer than the Off Delay setting. If the ice flaker stops, replace the Emitter Photo Eye. Similarly, the Receiver Photo Eye could be defective; unplug it and wait longer than the Off Delay setting, replacing it if the ice flaker then stops. Also, check for a wire jumper between terminals #5 (red) and #6 (blue) at the Level Control Relay (LC1); if one is present, remove it. Lastly, a defective Control Module (CM) could be the cause; remove the wire from Term 3 (red) at the Control Module (CM) and wait longer than the Off Delay setting, replacing the module if the ice flaker doesn't stop.

Why is the water pump not running on my Howe 2000-RLE?
    • M
      Megan PowersAug 28, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's water pump isn't running, here's what you can check: First, ensure the Control Module (CM) is functioning correctly by verifying 24 VAC is present across Term 1 (purple) and Term 3 (red) and checking the voltage between Term 1 and Term 6 (blue). If there's no voltage, the Control Module (CM) may be defective. Second, verify the control voltage at the Water Pump wire leads to rule out a defective Water Pump. Third, test the Motor Relay (R1) by placing wire jumpers between terminals #9 (black) and #11 (blue/brown) and terminals #1 (blue/brown) and #3 (black). Finally, check for and tighten any loose wiring.

Why is my Howe Ice Maker not producing as much ice as it should?
    • A
      Amanda PetersonSep 1, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker is not meeting its rated capacity, several factors could be responsible. The Evaporator Temperature might be incorrect, requiring an adjustment to the refrigeration. The supply water temperature may be outside the mandatory range, so adjust it to between 45°F and 90°F. The ambient temperature could also be a factor; adjust it to between 50°F and 100°F, or relocate the Ice Flaker if adjustment isn't possible.

What causes a Howe 2000-RLE's condensing unit to shut off on low oil pressure failure?
    • E
      Ebony CrawfordSep 3, 2025
If the condensing unit of your Howe Ice Maker is off due to low oil pressure failure, there are a few possible causes. One is a lack of refrigerant, so check for leaks, repair them, and add refrigerant as needed. Another cause could be refrigerant flood back, which requires adjusting the refrigeration. Finally, improper piping or traps could be the issue, requiring a correction of the piping.

What causes low suction pressure pump down in a Howe 2000-RLE condensing unit?
    • J
      James VaughanSep 5, 2025
If the condensing unit in your Howe Ice Maker is experiencing low suction pressure pump down, it may be due to a few reasons. A lack of refrigerant is a possibility, in which case you should check for leaks, repair them, and add refrigerant. Insufficient water supply could also be the cause, so replace the Water Filter and check for clogged tubes or valves. Lastly, a refrigeration line blockage might be the issue; check the filter drier, TXV, and EPR, and replace them as necessary.

Why is the ice blade frozen in place on my Howe 2000-RLE Ice Maker?
    • M
      Megan RobinsonSep 8, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's ice blade is frozen in place, there are several potential causes. The Motor Overload setting might be too high, requiring adjustment at the Control Module (CM). The ice might be freezing too thick or too hard, necessitating an adjustment to the refrigeration. The Drive Motor may have stopped, so consult the troubleshooting steps for "Drive Motor will not start". Finally, the Flex Coupling could be broken, requiring inspection and replacement as needed.

Why is my Howe 2000-RLE Ice Maker's condensing unit off due to high discharge pressure?
    • N
      Nicholas AverySep 9, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's condensing unit is off due to high discharge pressure failure, there are several possible reasons. Non-condensables may be present in the system, so remove them. The system might be overcharged with refrigerant, requiring the removal of excess refrigerant. The fan may not be running, so check the Fan Cycling Control and adjust as necessary.

Why is ice not harvesting at the bottom of the evaporator in my Howe 2000-RLE?
    • S
      Shawn JosephSep 12, 2025
If ice does not harvest at the bottom of the evaporator in your Howe Ice Maker, it could be due to a few reasons. The TXV might be underfeeding, requiring adjustment of the refrigeration. The system could be short of refrigerant, so check for bubbles in the Sight Glass and charge the system as needed. The TXV sensing bulb may be improperly located, so relocate the bulb to the 4:30 clock position as originally set by the factory.

Why is ice not harvesting on one side of the evaporator in my Howe Ice Maker?
    • G
      Gordon PerezSep 14, 2025
If ice isn't harvesting on one side or an angular section of the evaporator in your Howe Ice Maker, it may be because the Sleeve Bearings are worn. Remove the Speed Reducer or Gear Motor and check for "play" in the Sleeve Bearings, replacing them if worn. Alternatively, the Ice Blade clearance might be too high, requiring adjustment to the proper setting.
