Why does ice accumulate on the ribs of the bottom casting in my Howe Ice Maker?
    • T
      Tonya CastroSep 16, 2025
If ice is accumulating on the ribs of the bottom casting of your Howe Ice Maker, it could be because the ambient temperature is too low. If the ambient temperature is below 50°F, relocate the Ice Flaker to a warmer area.

Why is the drive motor not running on my Howe Ice Maker, or why is it in overload?
    • K
      Kimberly AustinNov 18, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's drive motor won't run or is in an overload condition, there are several potential causes. It could be a defective Control Module (CM), in which case you should verify 24 VAC is present across Term 1 (purple) and Term 3 (red) at the Control Module (CM) and check voltage between Term 1 and Term 6 (blue). A defective Drive Motor is another possibility; verify control voltage at the Drive Motor wire leads. Also, the Motor Relay (R1) might be defective; place two wire jumpers between terminals #9 (black) and #11 (blue/brown) and terminals #1 (blue/brown) and #3 (black) at Motor Relay (R1). Other causes include seized sleeve bearings (remove the Gear Motor and try to push the Ice Blade by hand), a seized Gear Motor or Speed Reducer (remove and test the motor), a Motor Ov...

How to troubleshoot a Howe 2000-RLE that will not run?
    • L
      Louis FreemanNov 21, 2025
If your Howe Ice Maker's ice flaker will not run, there are several things to check. First, make sure the Molex plugs are properly connected to the Photo Eyes. You can test the Photo Eyes by placing a wire jumper between terminals #10 (blue) and #11 (black) at the Level Control Relay (LC1); if the ice flaker starts, the Photo Eyes may be defective and need replacement. Alternatively, the Level Control Relay (LC1) itself may be defective; test by placing a wire jumper between terminals #5 (red) and #6 (red) at the Level Control Relay (LC1). Also, check for control power from the Transformer (T1) by checking the voltage across Term 1 (purple) and Term 2 (yellow/orange) at the Control Module (CM). Another potential cause is an open switch or loose wiring; test by placing a wire jumper between...

Why does ice freeze together in the ice bin of my Howe 2000-RLE Ice Maker?
    • S
      simsbrandonDec 1, 2025
If ice is freezing together in the ice bin of your Howe Ice Maker, it could be due to several reasons. The Water Distribution Pan might be overflowing, in which case you should adjust the Water Regulating Valve so the pan is halfway full. Another cause could be that water from the Side Spouts or Lead Spout isn't reaching the freezing surface of the Evaporator; clean the spouts and ensure they're perpendicular to and within a reasonable distance from the Evaporator's surface. Water may also be "ramping" off rings of ice formed on the Evaporator, which requires adjusting the refrigeration. An improperly draining Ice Bin could also be the culprit; check that all drains are flowing freely and pitched away from the Ice Bin. Finally, low ice turnover can lead to stale, clumped ice due to lengthy...
