The
firs
t
step
in
setting
up
a
reflectometer
system
is
to
connec
t
the
signal
source
to
its
power
supply
and
to
put
the
power
supply
into
operation
.
Any
signal
source
may
be
used
which
is
capable
of
( 1)
generating
a
signal
of
+
10
dbm
or
greater
over
the
desired
band
of
frequencies
(0
dbm
or
greater
if
10
-
db
d
irectional
couplers
are
used
in
both
channels)
and
(2)
modulating
the
output
signal.
NOTE
:
Though
these
instructions
are
being
made
specific
to
equipment
operating
in
the
X
band,
the
following
instructions
are
to
be
con-
sidered
typical
,
and
may
be
adapted
and
applied
when
assem-
bling
and
operating
a
re
flectometer
in
a
band
other
than
the
X .

cable

On
the
Model
717A
Power
Supply
:
a.
Check
that
the
MOD
.
SELECTOR
switch
,
REFLECTOR
RANGE
switch
,
and
POWER
switch
are
in
the
off
positions.
Turn
the
BIAS
V
OLTS
control
completely
counterclockwise.
