means

this
calibration
procedure,
errors
due
to
a
slight
loss
of
power
in
the
transmission
system
because
of
the
power
split
off
by
the

ncident
coupler
is
largely
compensated,
The
SET
TO
FULL
SCALE
control
inserts
sufficient
gain
to
bring
the
100%
reflection
voltage
to
the
level
it
would
have
in
a
lossless
transmission
system.

On
the
Oscilloscope
:
a.
A
wavy
trace
should
appear
on
the
oscilloscope,
b.
Adjust
the
vertical
amplifier
gain
control
so
that
the
trace
is
about
one
inch
above
center.
The
voltage
now
applied
to
the
vertical
amplifier
is
a
d-c
voltage
(about
10
v)
proportional
to
the
meter
deflection
at
various
fre
~
quencies
across
the
band
under
conditions
of
100%
reflection.
Thus
a
full-scale
d
eflection
line
is
established,

Recheck
the
zero
reference:
do

On
the
Model
416A,
disconnect
the
cable
from
the
REFLECTED/
PROBE
input
connector,

On
the
oscilloscope,
check
the
position
of
the
zero
reflection
reference
li
ne,
If
necessary,
readjust
the
oscilloscope
controls
to
position
the
zero
line
about
one
inch
below
center.
