Controls an d T ermi n als (Fig. 1) --
RANGE - This four - position rotary switch c onn ects the proper multi -
plier resistors int o the circuit for the des ire d range . Each position of the
switch carries a db designation an d a perc e n t d esi gnation .

Fo r t he PERCENT REFLECTION (RE FLECTOMETER) scale, the
numerical designation of the switch position indicates the full scale
indication in percent of the range in use .
b. Fo r the SWR (S LOTTED LINE ) scale. the full scale indication of the
range in use is the reciprocal of th e percent designation of the switch
po sition. (Se e Applications section before using the SWR scale.)
c. Fo r the DB sca le. t he d ecibe l d esignatio n of the switch position indi-
cates the value in db to be a dded to the minus value of the meter read -
ing in db (full scale, the meter in dic ates 0 to -1 0 db) . For example, if
the meter reads

on the DB scale , an d the RANGE switch is at - 20
DB 10%, the meter is in d icati ng a level of -2 5 db T('~2 0) + ( - 5) J
SET TO FULL SCALE - T h is c on tro l (varia ble resistor R32 in the Re -
flected/Probe chan n el ) is used in th e calibration of t he sys t em (reflectometer or
slotted line) to adjust the meter reading, usu ally for full - scale indicatio n on the
chosen range.
RF POWER MONITOR - T h is e l ect ron ray in d icator (V9) monitors (to a
fir st ap pro ximation) the sum of the inci dent a nd re flected input powers.
ON - Thi s toggle switch contro l s the power supplied to the instrument
