terminal

reduces
the
output
current
to
zero.

this
automatic
shutoff
feature
is
not
required,
the
10k
ohm
resistor
may
be
omitted.)
As
shown
in
Figure
3-17,
R
x
must
be
selected
so
that
its
I
R
drop
is
less
than
the
maximum
rated
output
voltage
of
the
supply,
but
greater
than
the
initial
battery
voltage.

To
give
a
battery
a
constant-current
discharge,
proceed
as
follows:
a.
Turn
off
the
power
supply
and
disconnect
the
jumpers
from
terminal
A1
to
A2
and
from
A2
to
A3.
(This
step
disables
the
supply's
VOLTAGE
controls.)
b.
Connect
terminal
A3
to
+S
and
leaves
all
other
jumpers
connected
as
for
normal
operation
as
shown
in
Figure
3-1
7.
c.
Connect
the
positive
terminal
of
the
battery
to
A2
through
a
10kS7
resistor.
d.
Connect
the
positive
terminal
of
the
supply
to
the
negative
terminal
of
the
battery.
e.
Connect
R
x
between
the
negative
terminal
of
the
supply
and
the
positive
terminal
of
the
battery,
rotate
the
supply's
current
control
fully
counterclockwise
(CCW),
energize
the
supply,
and
set
the
current
control
for
the
desired
discharge
current
as
indicated
on
the
front
panel
meter.
