4-1.
INTRODUCTION
The
procedures
in
this section test
the
instrument's
electrical
performance
using
the
specifications
from
Table
1-1
as
the
performance
standards. All tests
can
be
performed
without
access
to
the
interior
of
the
instrument.
Data
points
are
given
both
for
the
8642A
and
the
8642B;
when
testing
an
8642A
delete the
data
points
that
apply only to
the
8642B.
In
general,
these
are
the
specifications
for
RF
frequencies
greater
than
1057.5
MHz
unless otherwise noted.
NOTES
If
the
performance
tests
are to be valid
the
following
conditions
must
be met:
a.
The
HP
8642
must
have a
30
minute
warmup.
b.
The
mains
(line) voltage
must
be within +5 -10%
oj
100, IIO,
220
or
240
volts
rms
AC
at 47.5 -
440
Hz.
c.
The ambient
temperature
must
be 0 to
+55
degrees C
d.
Before
aging rate
tests
are performed,
the
HP
8642
must
have a 8 day
warmup
if
it
has
been
disconnected from
the
Mains power for
more
than
24
hours, or
if
the
HP
8642
has
been
disconnected from
the
Mains power for
less
than
24
hours
it
must
have a
24
hour warmup.

RECOMMENDED
TEST
EQUIPMENT
Equipment
required
for
the
performance
tests
is
listed in
the
Recommended Test
Equipment
table in Section
I.
Any
equipment
that
satisfies
the
critical
specifications given in
the
table
may
be
substituted
for
the
recommended
model(s).

TEST
RECORD
Results of
the
performance
tests may
be
tabulated
in
the
Test Record
at
the
end
of
the
procedures.
The
Test Record lists all
of
the tested specific a tions
and
their
accepta ble limits.
The
results recorded
at
incoming inspection
can
be used for comparison
in
periodic
maintenance
and
troubleshooting
and
after
repairs or adjustments.
