34 Appendix A—Productivity tools and services
Information tab
The Information tab provides access to the following pages:
Device Status Displays the printer status and shows the remaining life of HP supplies in percentages. The page
also shows the type and size of paper configured to each tray. To alter device settings, click
Change Settings.
Configuration Page Shows the information found on the printer configuration page.
Supplies Status Shows the life remaining of HP supplies in percentages. This page also provides supplies part
numbers. To order new supplies, click Order Supplies in the Other Links area on the left side of
the window. To visit any Web site, you must have Internet access.
Event Log Lists all printer events and errors.
Usage Page Summarizes the number of pages the printer has printed, grouped by size and type.
Diagnostics page Helps service personnel gain detailed information about your printer.
Device Information Displays the printer network name, address, and model information. To alter these entries, click
Device Information from the Settings tab.
Control Panel This page shows an image of the text currently appearing on the printer’s control panel display.
Color Usage Job Log Shows user color print jobs on a job-by-job basis.
Print Print print-ready files from any product that supports the HP Embedded Web Server. This feature is
especially useful to mobile users, because you do not have to install a product’s print driver in
order to print—you can print anywhere at any time.
Settings tab
The Settings tab allows you to configure the printer from your computer. It can be protected by a
password. If the printer is networked, always consult with the printer administrator before changing
settings. The Settings tab contains the following pages:
Configure Device Configure all printer settings from this page. This page contains the traditional menus found on
printers using a control panel display. These menus include Information, Paper Handling, and
Configure Device.
E-mail Server For network connected printers only. Used in conjunction with the Alerts page to set up incoming
and outgoing e-mail, as well as to set e-mail alerts.
Alerts For network connected printers only. Set up to receive e-mail alerts for various printer and supplies
events. Alerts may also be sent to a URL.
AutoSend Allows you to configure the printer to send automated e-mails regarding printer configuration and
supplies to specific e-mail addresses.
Security Set a password that must be entered to gain access to the Settings and Networking tabs. Enable
and disable certain features of the Embedded Web Server.
Edit Other Links Add or customize a link to another Web site to be displayed in the Other Links area on all
HP Embedded Web Server pages. The following links always appear in the Other Links area:
HP Instant Support, Order Supplies, and Product Support.
Device Information Name the printer and assign an asset number to it. Enter the name and e-mail address for the
primary contact who will receive information about the printer.
Language Determine the language in which to display the HP Embedded Web Server information.
Date & Time Allows time synchronization with a network time server.
Wake Time Allows you to set or edit a wake time for the printer.
Restrict Color Allows you to set user color print job restrictions.
