High-voltage power supply
The DC controller controls the high-voltage power supply (HVPS) to generate biases. The high-voltage power
supply delivers the high-voltage biases to the following components used to transfer toner during the
image-formation process:
Primary-charging roller (in the cartridge)
Developing roller (in the cartridge)
Primary-transfer roller
Secondary-transfer roller

The high-voltage power supply contains several separate circuits.
Table 1-9 High-voltage power supply circuits
Circuit Description
Primary-charging-bias generation The primary charging bias negatively charges the surface of the photosensitive drum to
prepare for image formation. The primary-charging-bias circuit in the high-voltage
power supply generates the biases for each color.
Developing-bias generation The developing bias adheres toner to an electrostatic latent image formed on the
photosensitive drum. The developing-bias circuit in the high-voltage power supply
generates the biases for each color.
