Removing an External 5.25-inch or 3.5-inch Drive
CAUTION: All removable media should be taken out of a drive before removing the drive from the
computer.
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for Disassembly on page 74).
2. Remove the access panel (
Access Panel on page 75).
WARNING! To reduce risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the internal system
components to cool before touching.
3. Remove the front bezel (Front Bezel on page 76).
4. Disconnect the drive cables, as indicated in the following illustrations.
a. If you are removing a 5.25-inch optical drive, disconnect the power cable (1) and data
cable (2) from the back of the drive.
