2.3.2 Chipset
The Intel Q45 Express chipset consists of a Graphics Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) and an
enhanced I/O controller hub (ICH10-DO). Table 2-3 compares the functions provided by the
chipsets.
The I/O controller hub (ICH10-DO) supports Intel vPro, which uses Active Management
Technology (AMT). AMT is a hardware/firmware solution that operates on auxiliary power to
allow 24/7 support of network alerting and management of the unit without regard to the power
state or operating system. AMT capabilities include:
■ System asset recovery (hardware and software configuration data)
■ OS-independent system wellness and healing
■ Software (virus) protection/management
