This is the process of extracting from an image the component colors needed
for reproducing that image. In color printing, these components are cyan,
magenta, yellow and black.
The separation process is usually done by scanning an image through red,
green and blue filters (the complements of cyan, magenta and yellow).
Black is derived from the combined signal from the other three separation
signals.
