Remove protective tape and cardboard from the printer before setup.
Connect the power cable but not the USB cable, and prepare for initial power-on.
Turn on the printer and select language and region via the display.
Ensure the access door is closed and the paper tray is open for loading.
Load paper into the tray, adjust guides, and confirm settings on the printer display.
Open the cartridge door, remove tape from cartridges, and install them into the carriage.
Print the alignment page, place it face down, and follow prompts to complete alignment.
Insert the software CD and follow on-screen instructions, connecting USB only when prompted.
Choose between Network (wireless) or USB connection during the setup process.
Follow the remaining on-screen prompts to finish the software installation.
Register your HP Deskjet and download software from hp.com/support if no CD/DVD drive is available.
