70 Chapter 3 - Troubleshooting Q1342-90910
Additional error messages
Error conditions can exist that do not generate status light patterns.
Instead, an error message appears on the computer screen.
Table 10. Error messages (no LED status panel pattern)
Hint To help prevent the "Illegal operation/General protection fault/Spool 32
error," try running fewer software programs at the same time. Close
programs rather than minimizing them. Screen savers, virus checkers,
fax software, and other memory-resident applications might be using
computer resources needed by the printer.
When attempting to print, avoid memory-intensive tasks like sending a
fax or using multi-media programs.
Delete all temp (file_name.tmp) files from Temp subdirectories, such
as C:\Windows\Temp.
Try printing at a lower resolution (especially if your print job contains
complex graphics).
Message Solutions
Printer not
responding
1. Verify that the power cord is connected to the printer and the power is turned on
(the Ready light should be illuminated).
2. Disconnect the cable pod cable from the printer and the computer. Reconnect the
cable pod cable at both ends.
3. Close all software applications and restart the computer.
