Performance is more than maximum engine speed, measured in pages per minute (ppm). Rather, performance
should be gauged by the speed at which the device can turn electronic files into printed pages or convert
printed material into electronic information. In addition to engine speed, several factors affect the time it takes to
complete a job, including the use of specialty paper, computer download time, and device processing time. The
time it takes for your computer to download a job to the device, and for the device to process a job, depends
on the following variables:
• The complexity and size of graphics
• The product’s I/O configuration (USB or parallel speed)
• The speed of your computer
• How long it takes for the printer to warm up (if necessary) and print the first page
