Environmental responsibility
Minimize your impact with
an environmentally
conscious printer.
As one of the world’s largest consumer IT companies, a leading IT supplier to small and medium-size businesses,
and a leader in enterprise computing, HP’s largest impact on the environment is through its products. The
environmental performance of products is largely determined at the design stage. HP’s Design for the
Environment initiative is driving improvements at every stage in the product lifecycle—helping reduce the
amount of energy, paper, packaging, and materials used at HP and by our customers. Through intelligent
design, we can reduce the environmental impact of our products, and of our customers.
Reduces costs
Reduce the cost of power, waste, and asset disposal with energy-efficient HP solutions.
• Be ready to print in seconds: Instant-on Technology in HP LaserJet devices provides up to 50 percent energy
savings over traditional fusing while providing a first page-out in seconds—nearly twice as fast as
competitive products without this technology. HP estimates that for our monochrome LaserJet products alone,
Instant-on Technology has reduced CO
2
emissions by over 5.25 million tons to date—the equivalent of
removing 1.1 million cars from the road for one year.

• Use less electricity. Using HP Web Jetadmin, you can remotely schedule sleep and wake-up modes or
automatically turn off devices on nights and weekends for savings of up to 66 percent in energy costs.
• Reduce noise pollution in your office with Quiet mode—a drive mode with reduced operation noise,
whatever print mode is selected. When Quiet mode is selected from the print driver, the printer operates at
half speed.
• Save toner with EconoMode to use less toner per page. Printing in EconoMode produces lighter images
with lesser print quality ideal for draft or proof printing and may extend the life of the print cartridge.
• Use less paper with N-up printing to place multiple document pages on a single printed page—perfect for
handouts and proof printing. The printer also supports 100 percent recycled paper. Product packaging is
100 percent recyclable.
• Choose your products responsibly. The EU RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive restricts the
use of certain substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and two flame retardants—PBB
and PBDE) in electronic products. HP has achieved compliance with the EU RoHS regulations for hundreds
of thousands of hardware parts, substituting new materials in many of them, while developing numerous
HP and industry standards to ensure these products meet our customer’s expectations for performance,
quality and reliability.
• Simplify the management and disposal of products, and recover some of their value at end of use.
The printer is designed for long-term usage and has parts and supplies that can be returned and recycled
through HP’s take-back program.

Through HP Planet Partners—a free, convenient return and recycling
program available in more than 40 countries—you can be assured cartridges won’t end up in a landfill.
