Modem module cable
NOTE: The modem module cable with RJ11 connector is included in the Cable kit on page 36, part
number 599525-001.
Before removing the modem module cable, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 56).
5. Remove the following components:
a. Switch cover (see

b. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 60)
c. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 64)
d. Speakers (see
Speakers on page 67)
e. Palm rest (see
Palm rest on page 71)
f. Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 73)
g. Display assembly (see
Display assembly on page 90)
h. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 98)
i. System board (see
System board on page 102)
j. USB connector board and cable (see
USB connector board on page 104)
Remove the modem cable.
1. Position the computer right-side up with the front toward you.
2. Release the modem RJ11 connector from the base enclosure clips (1).
