Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see

5. Remove the switch cover and keyboard (see

6. Remove the optical drive (see

7. Remove the power button board cable (see

8. Remove the speakers (see

9. Remove the thermal shield (see

10. Remove the display assembly (see

11. Remove the palm rest (see

12. Remove the hard drive (see

When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the
defective system board and installed on the replacement system board:
