Release the full-length expansion board retainer, and then remove the PCIe riser cage.
8. Remove the full-length expansion board.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Heatsink
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: The heatsink thermal interface media is not reusable and must be replaced if the
heatsink is removed from the processor after it has been installed.
CAUTION: To avoid thermal shutdown, all fans must be installed in a dual processor
configuration.
To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 26).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend ("Extend the server from the rack" on page 27) or remove ("Remove the server from the rack" on
page 28) the server from the rack.
4. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 32).
5. Remove the air baffle ("Air baffle" on page 33).
