Memory Options
You can expand server memory by installing PC2700 DDR SDRAM DIMMs.
The system supports up to four ECC Registered DDR SDRAM DIMMs.
DIMM Installation Guidelines
You must observe the following guidelines when installing additional memory:
A single DIMM configuration is supported in slot 1 only.
Aside from the single DIMM configuration in slot 1, always install memory
in pairs of two identical DIMMs.
DIMMs installed in the server must be Registered DDR DRAM, 2.5 volts, 64
bits wide, and ECC.
All DIMMs installed must be the same speed. Do not install DIMM modules
supporting different speeds.
Install DIMMs into slots as pairs. DIMMs must be installed in order.
Upgrade memory by installing DIMMs into slots as pairs in sequential order,
starting with slots 1 and 2.
Installing DIMMs
1. Power down the server ("Powering Down the Server" on page 21).
2. Extend the server from the rack, if applicable ("Extending the Server from
the Rack" on page 22
).
3. Remove the front bezel door, if necessary ("Removing Front Tower Bezel"
on page 23
).
4. Remove the access panel ("Removing Access Panel" on page 23
).
