• In the operating system:
o The Health Driver performs an orderly shutdown if it detects a cautionary temperature level. If the
server detects a critical temperature level before the orderly shutdown occurs, the server performs an
immediate shutdown. Additionally, the Health Driver performs an orderly shutdown if more than
one fan is failed or removed.
o When Thermal Shutdown is disabled in RBSU, the server performs an immediate shutdown if it
detects a critical temperature level.
IMPORTANT: An immediate shutdown is a hardware-controlled function and it overrides any
firmware or software actions.
To remove the component:
1. Extend the server from the rack (on page 29).
2. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 31).
3. Remove the fan.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.

To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 29).
2. Extend the server from the rack, if applicable ("Extend the server from the rack" on page 29).
3. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 31).
4. Press the slot release lever, and swing it upward.
