Chassis and system highlights
The HP Z440 Workstation is a single processor system, delivering high
performance and outstanding value in a newly redesigned expandable mini-
tower with integrated front and rear handles. The innovative HP Z440
architecture supports the latest professional graphics and single socket multi-
core processor technology. With a standard 700 W, 90% ecient power supply,
the new HP Z440 supports a vast selection of high-end hardware
congurations. Optionally, the HP Z440 can be congured with a 525 W, 85%
ecient power supply for less demanding workloads.
Tool-free design
The HP Z440 Workstation continues in the tradition of providing tool-free access for ease of conguration and
serviceability. With clearly marked green touch points and tool-free serviceability, upgrading components is a snap. The
HP Z440 oers tool-free access to many of the user-serviceable components such as: internal hard drives, PCI/PCIe
expansion slots, and external device bays. In addition, HP’s unique approach to cable management presents a clutter-
free environment for ease of access with the added benet of improved airow for enhanced thermal and acoustic
performance.
Security
HP understands the importance of system and component security and has incorporated several security features into
the HP Z440 Workstation. The side access panel includes: the HP BPC Security Lock mounting feature, a security slot,
and a padlock loop—allowing customers to select the right level of security. In addition, a system intrusion switch and a
remote/centrally controlled solenoid lock are available as optional accessories.
Expandability and performance
The HP Z440 delivers enhanced expandability and I/O performance where it matters. The new architecture features eight
memory slots, with support for the latest DDR4 memory, and six high-performance expansion slots—including three
3rd-generation PCI Express slots. To help eliminate bottlenecks with external devices, HP Z440 also provides eight easily
accessible SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports. Four USB 3.0 ports can be found on the Front IO (with the top port oering battery
charging capabilities) and four on the rear of the system. The HP Z440 has the power and features needed to quickly get
the job done.
With two internal storage bays and two standard 5.25" external device bays—the HP Z440 delivers exibility for storage
and accessory options. The internal storage bays feature tool-free drive trays which have been designed to minimize
drive vibration, ensuring silent operation. The drive trays are compatible with industry standard 3.5" storage devices,
and can be easily adapted to accept the smaller 2.5" form-factor. The HP Z440 also provides tool-free accessibility to the
external device bays, expanding storage capabilities or attaching additional I/O can be easily completed in just a few steps.
