Overview

This document describes the HZBB-10A Transformer Turns Ratio Tester, a device designed to measure the turns ratio or voltage ratio of transformers. It aims to simplify and automate the testing process compared to traditional bridge methods.

Function Description

The HZBB-10A Transformer Turns Ratio Tester is used for measuring the turns ratio or voltage ratio of transformers. It is particularly useful during the production of semi-finished and finished transformers, as well as for newly installed transformers, to ensure compliance with IEC and national standards. Unlike traditional bridge methods, this instrument provides direct data readings without requiring manual conversions. It can perform tests on three-phase voltage ratios or turns ratios in a single operation, offering fast and highly precise results.

Key functions and features include:

  • Three-phase precision inverter power supply: Integrates a three-phase precision inverter power supply to eliminate the influence of mains voltage harmonics, ensuring more accurate measurements. It is also unaffected when operating with a generator as the power source.
  • Three-phase output voltage: Utilizes three-phase output voltage to enhance test speed. It can measure the angle between phases and automatically identify wiring groups from 0 to 11.
  • Versatile transformer compatibility: Suitable for a wide range of transformers, including Z-type transformers, rectifier transformers, grounding transformers, electric furnace transformers, phase-shifting transformers, and balance transformers. For low-voltage rectifier transformers with multiple windings, it can measure the transformation ratio and 7.5° angle deviation without disconnecting the low-voltage side.
  • Protection features: Incorporates high and low voltage reverse connection protection, transformer turn short-circuit protection, tap switch failure protection, and output full short-circuit protection, enhancing instrument stability.
  • Automatic parameter calculation: After inputting rated parameters, the instrument can automatically calculate the transformer ratio value, error value, and on-load tap-changer position.
  • User-friendly interface: Features a 7-inch high-definition color touch-screen LCD with modular display, ensuring clear visibility even under strong light. The menu-driven operation is designed for ease of use.
  • Data output and storage: Equipped with print output, a USB port, and an RS232 port for convenient data management and paperless office integration.
  • Durable design: Housed in a cold and heat-resistant, sealed, waterproof, anti-shock, multi-function engineering plastic box, making it suitable for field testing.

Connecting Method:

  • Three-phase transformer Y-d-11, 525/√3±4×2.50%/20: The manual provides a diagram (Diagram 1) for connecting the transformer and high voltage leads.
  • Single Phase Transformer, 525/√3±4×2.50%/20: The manual provides a diagram (Diagram 2) for connecting the transformer and high voltage leads.

Notices for Operation:

  1. Automatic Error Calculation: When testing transformers with multiple contact points, inputting tap type, rated high, and low voltage allows the instrument to automatically calculate the error and identify the tap point. Once rated data is entered, it doesn't need to be changed for subsequent tap point tests.
  2. Equal Division: Also known as division of distance. For transformers like 110±8×1.25%/10.0, 1.25% equals the sub-level.
  3. Rated Tapping: For 110±8×1.25%/10.0 transformers, the rated tapping of 8+1 means 9. Entering the rated bit ensures accurate measurement of the tapping position, even if it's not at the intermediate point.
  4. Turn Ratio Calculation: For three-phase power samples, the turn ratio is the ratio between high and low voltage winding circle numbers. Specific calculations apply based on star or delta connections for high and low pressure sides (e.g., root 3 times for star high pressure/delta low pressure, or 3 times root variable ratio for delta high pressure/star low pressure).
  5. Neutral Point Transformers: For transformers with a neutral point (e.g., YN-d-11), Y-d-11 measurement is theoretically better than YN-d-11 measurement due to potential deviations.
  6. On-load Tap Changer: If a transformer has 19 tap changer files and files 9, 10, and 11 have the same value, the instrument input and sub-type should be set to 9.
  7. Tap Changer Position Inversion: If the tap changer is on the low voltage side, the displayed split position and actual position may be inverted.
  8. Low Voltage Level: If the transformer's low voltage level is insufficient, the high and low voltage values can be multiplied by 10 or 100 as needed.
  9. Single Phase Transformer Test: For single-phase transformers, simply select the "Single" measurement option.

Maintenance Features

Instrument Common Problems And Inspection Methods:

If the test results are abnormal, a self-test can be performed using the following method:

  1. Wiring for Self-Test: Connect the yellow, green, red, and black high voltage connecting pliers together with the yellow, green, red, and black low voltage connecting pliers. This creates a short connection between the high and low voltage sides.
  2. Measurement: Select "y-y-0" or "d-d-0" as the connection mode and start the measurement.
  3. Expected Result: If the instrument is functioning normally, the measurement value should be 1.0000.
  4. Troubleshooting: If the result is not 1.0000, there is an issue with the instrument. If there is no short connection, the yellow, green, red, and black connecting pliers on the high-voltage side of the test line can also be connected together with the yellow, green, red, and black connecting pliers on the low-voltage side.
