To ensure proper functioning and longevity, the HumidiCup humidifier requires specific maintenance practices. It is crucial to use only distilled or purified water. The use of moisturizing liquids containing Propylene Glycol or any volatile polymer chemical solvents is strictly prohibited, as these can irreversibly damage the humidity sensor.
Users must also prevent water from entering the control unit. If water accidentally enters the control unit, the power supply should be immediately disconnected, and the unit thoroughly dried before reuse to prevent product failure or accidents.
Regular refilling of the water cartridge is necessary, with the frequency depending on the humidor's size, sealing condition, and environmental humidity, typically once a month for the S1 model in a desktop humidor.
For accuracy verification, the water cartridge can be removed, and the control unit powered on and placed on a table with an accurate hygrometer. A distance of 2 meters (7 feet) should be maintained from other devices, and sufficient time allowed for readings to stabilize before comparison.
