Overview

This document serves as the user manual for the Husky Storm Central Vacuum System, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, maintenance, and warranty information.

Function Description:

The Husky Storm is a central vacuum system designed for household use, offering a powerful and efficient cleaning solution. It operates by drawing air and debris through a network of pipes installed within a residence to a central power unit, where the dust and particles are collected. The system aims to improve indoor air quality by exhausting filtered air outside the living space.

Important Technical Specifications:

The power unit is designed for a nominal circuit of 15A at 110-120 VCA, 50/60 Hz. It features a grounding attachment plug and must be connected to an independent circuit breaker and a properly grounded electrical outlet. The power cord is 5.4 ft / 1.65 m in length. The unit should be installed in a ventilated area, at least 60 inches (1.5 meters) from the ground, with a minimum of 12 inches (30 cm) clearance on all sides to prevent overheating. The system includes a soft-start control module with an LED status indicator for monitoring its operational status and maintenance needs. It is certified to UL Std. 1017 and CAN/CSA Std. C22.2 No. 243-10, with Intertek listing number 2000868.

Usage Features:

The Husky Storm system is designed for ease of use. To operate, the flexible hose is inserted into one of the wall or floor vacuum inlets, and the power unit is turned on/off using a switch on the hose's ergonomic handle. The ergonomic handle is designed for pleasant and worry-free use, featuring a rocker on/off switch. The system is intended for use on dry surfaces only and must not be used to vacuum liquids or wet carpets/floors. It is crucial to avoid vacuuming substances like gypsum dust, flour, mud, or any sludgy materials, as these can obstruct the filtration system, leading to motor overheating and malfunction. The power unit must always have its permanent filter installed during operation. The system also supports an optional disposable filtration bag for enhanced convenience. The LED indicator on the control module provides visual cues about the system's status, including power connection, operational status, and maintenance reminders (e.g., when to empty the dust canister or clean the filter). A mini breaker is integrated into the motor housing to protect against overloads and overheating, which can be reset by pushing a button.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimizing performance and extending the life of the Husky Storm. The filtration system consists of a permanent filter and an optional disposable filtration bag. The permanent filter is machine washable (normal cycle, 40°C/105°F) and tumble dry low. It should not be bleached, dry-cleaned, or ironed. It is recommended to deep-clean the permanent filter once a year. This involves removing dust by gently patting it into a bag, then washing it in a machine on a normal cycle (warm or cold water) for 10 minutes, followed by spin drying. Before re-installing, the inside of the filtration cage should be cleaned. The dust canister should be emptied regularly, especially if not using a disposable filtration bag, to ensure motor longevity. If using a disposable filtration bag (FILTRE-186 for Husky Storm), it should be checked/changed as often as the dust canister would be emptied, typically every three months. To change the bag, the dust canister is unlatched, the used bag is removed from the elbow attachment by pulling on the cardboard cuff, disposed of, and a new bag is slipped onto the elbow fixture until it reaches the stop notch. The hose handle should be wiped regularly with a moist towel to prevent buildup. The LED indicator provides reminders for maintenance tasks, such as emptying the dust container (after 15 hours of operation) and cleaning the filter. If the LED turns amber, it signals that a check-up by a Husky certified technician is required to maintain warranty validity and extend unit life. The manual also provides troubleshooting steps for common issues like "no power" or "decreased suction," including checking electrical connections, resetting the mini breaker, verifying low voltage wiring, and inspecting for blockages in the hose or piping.
