Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the machine and in the manual before starting operation.

Slope Operation

Slopes are a major factor related to loss of control and tip-over accidents, which can result in severe injury or death.

Children

Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are often attracted to the machine.

Towing

Tow only with a machine that has a hitch designed for towing. Follow manufacturer's recommendations for weight limits.

Service - Safe Handling of Gasoline

To avoid personal injury or property damage, use extreme care in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable.

General Service

Never operate machine in a closed area. Keep all nuts and bolts tight.

Assembly

Install Steering Wheel

Secure steering wheel to steering shaft with locknut and large flat washer previously removed. Tighten securely.

Check Battery

Inspect for secure connections, corrosion, and test battery. Recharge if necessary.

Install Seat

Adjust seat before tightening adjustment knob. Ensure comfortable operating position.

Install Bagger Components

Install bagger support tube and brackets to the tractor back plate and chassis.

Roll Tractor Off Skid

Follow instructions to safely remove the tractor from its shipping skid.

Assemble Bagger

Unfold bag, install spreader bars, retainer springs, and vinyl bindings onto the tube.

Bagger Adjustment

Adjust bagger assembly for proper fit between the bagger top and fender.

Install Mulcher Plug

Insert mulcher plug and handle assembly through back plate and onto the mower deck chute adaptor.

Check Tire Pressure

Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown on tires for best cutting performance.

Check Deck Levelness

Ensure mower housing is properly leveled side-to-side and front-to-rear for best cutting results.

Check Belt Routing

Verify that motion and mower blade drive belts are routed correctly around pulleys.

Check Brake System

Check to see that the brake is operating properly after learning to operate the tractor.

Operation

Know Your Tractor

Read the owner's manual and safety rules. Familiarize yourself with controls and adjustments.

Set Parking Brake

Depress clutch/brake pedal fully and place parking brake lever in the 'ENGAGED' position.

Stopping the Tractor

To stop mower blades, disengage attachment clutch. To stop ground drive, depress clutch/brake pedal.

Use Throttle Control

Always operate engine at full speed (fast) for best mower performance and efficiency.

Use Choke Control

Use choke control whenever you are starting a cold engine. Do not use to start a warm engine.

Move Forward and Backward

Direction and speed are controlled by the motion control lever. Start with lever in neutral.

Adjust Mower Cutting Height

Turn height adjustment knob clockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower cutting height.

Adjust Gauge Wheels

Adjust gauge wheels to be slightly off the ground at the desired cutting height.

Reverse Operation System (ROS)

Allows operation of mower deck or attachment while in reverse. Turn ignition key to ROS 'ON' position.

Operating on Hills

Do not drive on slopes greater than 15 degrees. Drive up and down, not across.

Transporting the Tractor

Disengage transmission by placing freewheel control in freewheeling position. Do not tow over 2 MPH.

Towing Carts and Attachments

Tow only recommended attachments. Use common sense when towing.

Service Reminder/Hour Meter

Indicates when engine or mower needs servicing. Flashes for two hours when service is required.

Before Starting the Engine

Check engine oil level and add gasoline. Ensure proper fuel and oil for operating conditions.

Start Engine

Sit on seat, depress brake, set parking brake, move controls to neutral, disengage clutch, set throttle.

Purge Transmission

Procedure to remove trapped air from the transmission before first use or after service.

Mowing Tips

Tips for optimal cutting results, including mower leveling and discharge direction.

Dump Bagger

Raise dump handle to its highest position to dump clippings.

Convert Mower

Instructions for converting the mower for mulching or rear discharging.

Bagging

Attach chute to tractor and install bagger onto tractor.

Rear Discharging

Install discharge chute through backplate opening and attach by hooking straps.

Maintenance

Maintenance Schedule

Checklists for maintenance tasks before each use, every 8, 25, 50, 100 hours, and before storage.

General Recommendations

Proper maintenance ensures full value from the warranty and proper tractor operation.

Before Each Use

Check engine oil level, brake operation, tire pressure, operator presence systems, and fasteners.

Brake Operation

Check and adjust brake if tractor requires more than five feet to stop at highest speed.

Tire Maintenance

Maintain proper air pressure, keep tires free of chemicals, and avoid hazards.

Operator Presence and ROS Systems

Ensure operator presence and reverse operation systems are working properly.

Blade Care

Keep mower blades sharp and replace bent or damaged blades.
