General recommendations
Bear in mind the following:
! Do not start the engine if the cutting attachment and
all safety features are not tted or working properly.
! Do not touch hot components, such as the muf er
for example, before it has cooled down suf ciently to
prevent burns.
! Avoid getting petrol or oil on your skin or in your mouth.
Use protective cream on your hands. This minimises
the risk of infection and makes it easier to wash dirt off.
Long-term contact with engine oil can be damaging to
health.
! Never start the engine indoors. The engine exhaust
fumes are poisonous. They contain carbon monoxide,
an odourless, poisonous and highly dangerous gas.
!
Wipe up oil spills on the oor immediately to prevent slipping.
! Do not use tools that are worn or do not t properly on
nuts and screws.
! The lawnmower should not be turned upside down
when the engine is lled with oil. The oil may run into
the carburettor and cause signi cant starting problems.
+ Always work on a clean work surface.
+
Always work in a logical manner to ensure all the parts have
been tted correctly and the screws and nuts are tight.
+ Use special tools where these are recommended in
order to be able to carry out work correctly.
The ignition cable should always be removed from the spark
plug before servicing, repair work or cleaning. Otherwise
there is a great risk that the engine may start accidentally
causing personal injury.
When carrying out repair work or cleaning (when the
machine needs to be placed on its side) the muf er should
always be facing downwards.
The workshop where the machine is to be repaired must be
equipped with safety equipment in accordance with local
regulations.
No one may repair the machine without having read and
understood the contents of this workshop manual.
This workshop manual contains the following boxes in rel-
evant places.
WARNING!
The warning box warns of the risk of personal
injury if the instructions are not followed.
!
NOTE!
This box warns of material damage if the instructions
are not followed.
The machine has been approved in terms of safety in accord-
ance with statutory requirements with the attachments speci-
ed in the operator’ s manual. The tting of other attachments
or accessories or spare parts not approved by Husqvarna
may result in these safety requirements not being met and
the party installing such attachments, accessories or spare
parts shall be liable in this respect.
Fire hazard
The engine is a four stroke engine and must therefore always
be run on pure, unleaded petrol (minimum 77 octane RON).
Handle fuel with care as it is highly in ammable.
Never refuel while the engine is running.
Do not smoke and make sure there are no naked ames or
sparks in the vicinity.
Never start the engine if the machine is leaking fuel or if there
has been a spillage when refuelling. Allow the remaining fuel
to evaporate.
Make sure there are re extinguishers in the vicinity.
Do not attempt to extinguish a petrol re with water.
Poisonous fumes
When using cleaning uids please read the manual carefully.
Make sure ventilation is good when handling fuel and other
volatile liquids.
The engine exhaust fumes are poisonous. Test run the
engine outdoors.
Special tools
Some procedures in this workshop manual may require the
use of special tools. Details of the tools required along with
their respective order number appear in each section out-
lining these procedures.
We recommend using special tools, rstly to avoid personal
injury and secondly to prevent costly damage to the parts in
question.
Sealing surfaces and gaskets
Make sure all sealing surfaces are clean and free from old
gasket residue. Use tools that will not damage the sealing
surface when it is cleaned. Any scratches and ridges can be
removed using a small, single-cut le.
Sealing rings
Always replace sealing rings that have been dismantled. The
delicate sealing lip can be easily damaged resulting in poor
sealing ability. The area that the seal is designed to make
airtight must also be completely undamaged.
Lubricate the sealing lip with grease before tting and make
sure it has not been damaged by shaft lugs or splines. Use
adhesive tape or a conical sleeve as protection.
It is important that the sealing ring is aligned correctly in order
for it to work as intended.
