Overview

The HyperChiller is an iced coffee maker designed to rapidly cool hot beverages. It is available under model numbers HC2(A~Z) and EBC-1023(A~Z). The device is intended for household use and is manufactured with consumer safety in mind, emphasizing careful handling of hot liquids and proper assembly.

Function Description:

The HyperChiller works by utilizing a multi-chamber design that allows hot liquid to flow around frozen stainless steel cups, rapidly transferring heat and cooling the beverage. The core principle involves freezing the internal components (small and large stainless steel cups filled with water) for a minimum of 12 hours until solid. Once frozen, hot coffee or other beverages are poured into the device, circulating around the ice-filled chambers. This process can cool a beverage by up to 130°F+ in as little as one minute, depending on factors like initial liquid temperature, volume, and whether the product is swirled. The cooled beverage is then poured out via a spout on the lid into a serving cup.

Important Technical Specifications:

The device consists of several key parts:

  • Lid: This component features a recessed area for pouring hot liquid and a spout for dispensing the cooled beverage. It also has a vent that allows air to escape from the ice chamber during use, which may result in small bubbles.
  • Small Stainless Steel Cup: This cup is filled with water up to an indented mark and twisted onto the lid during initial assembly.
  • Large Stainless Steel Cup: This cup is also filled with water up to an indented mark, and its contents are emptied into the black Hyperchiller cup during initial assembly. The small stainless steel cup nests inside the large one. Both stainless steel cups can be attached and detached from the lid by twisting.
  • Black Hyperchiller Cup: This is the main outer vessel where the cooling process takes place. The lid assembly, with the attached stainless steel cups, twists onto this cup.

The internal cups are designed to be filled with water and frozen, creating the cooling elements. The device is designed to be stable and secure when pouring hot liquid, with a caution against overfilling or allowing liquid to pool on the top of the vessel.

Usage Features:

  1. Initial Assembly and Freezing:

    • Fill the small stainless steel cup with water up to the indented mark (1a) and twist it onto the lid.
    • Fill the large stainless steel cup with water up to the indented mark (2a), then empty its contents into the black Hyperchiller cup.
    • Twist the empty large stainless steel cup onto the lid.
    • Twist the entire lid assembly (with both stainless steel cups attached) onto the black Hyperchiller cup.
    • Place the assembled unit upright in the freezer for a minimum of 12 hours until frozen solid. Overfilling should be avoided to prevent cracking.
  2. Daily Use:

    • Step 1 (Pouring Hot Liquid): Brew fresh coffee directly onto the recessed area of the Hyperchiller's lid using a compatible single-cup brewer, or carefully pour it in with a carafe. The liquid will flow through an opening at the bottom of the lid into the cooling chamber. It's acceptable to pour liquid over the vent on the recessed area of the lid, as this allows air to escape. Once frozen, there's no need to disassemble the product for regular use.
    • Step 2 (Cooling): After the coffee is inside, gently swirl the product every few seconds to keep the coffee moving and facilitate faster cooling. Users are warned to use caution when handling hot liquids.
    • Step 3 (Dispensing): In as little as one minute, the coffee will have cooled significantly. Pour the cooled beverage via the spout on the opposite side of the lid into a serving cup. Cooling times vary based on freezer temperature, initial liquid temperature and volume, and whether the product is swirled. A "Cooling Times" chart provides estimates:
      • Coffee (6 oz Small): 60 seconds (swirling), 2 minutes (resting)
      • Coffee (8 oz Medium): 60 seconds (swirling), 2 minutes (resting)
      • Coffee (10 oz Large): 60 seconds (swirling), 3 minutes (resting)
      • Coffee (12 oz Extra Large): 90 seconds (swirling), 3 minutes (resting)
      • Wine (6 oz): 30 seconds (swirling), 60 seconds (resting)
      • Spirits (3 oz): 30 seconds (swirling), 60 seconds (resting)
      • To achieve ice-cold coffee without adding ice to the drink, an additional 60+ seconds should be added to the corresponding cooling time.
  3. Preparation for Next Use:

    • Step 4 (Rinsing and Refreezing): Pour clean water through the lid (as done with coffee) and then pour it back out into the sink to rinse. Dry off any condensation from the outside of the unit. Place the product back in the freezer in an upright position for subsequent use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Washing: The HyperChiller should be washed before its first use. Periodically, the product should be taken apart and thoroughly washed. All parts of the HyperChiller are top-shelf dishwasher safe, making cleaning convenient.
  • Customer Support: Elite's customer service team is available for questions. They can be reached toll-free at 800-365-6133 ext. 120/105/115. • Demo Video: A demo video for product assembly and use is available at https://hyperchiller.com/pages/how-it-works-video.
