EXIE | 2021 Quick Setup Guide
FORK TUNING
First, set your fork sag with your riding gear on, using the tradtional seated method.
You will likely need to raise or lower pressures to get the recommended setting.
NOTE: All Fox 2022 Model Year forks
(MY22) have a sticker calling out the
QR code registration, the QR code
replaces the old 4-digit identification
codes. It contains a product serial
number and also directs you to a URL
with product information.

FOX FACTORY - FIT4:
There’s a 3-POSITION ON-THE-FLY
(REMOTE LEVER) adjustment on the Exie.
It is useful to make on-the-fly adjustments
to control fork performance under significant
changes in terrain, and is intended to be
adjusted throughout the ride.
OPEN mode for use during rough descending.
MEDIUM mode for undulating terrain.
FIRM mode for smooth climbing.
OPEN MODE ADJUST is useful to control fork performance under rider weight shifts,
G-outs, and slow inputs.
OPEN mode adjust provides 18 additional fine tuning adjustments for the OPEN mode.
Setting 18 will have a more plush feel and setting 1 will have a firmer feel.

FIT4 REBOUND ADJUSTER
REBOUND controls the rate of speed at
which the fork extends after compressing.
Turn your rebound knob to the closed
position (full clockwise) until it stops.
Then back it out (counter-clockwise)
to the number of clicks shown in the
table below.

Fox Factory Float 34 Step-Cast Fork

Function Description: The Fox Factory Float 34 Step-Cast fork is a high-performance suspension fork designed for mountain biking, specifically for the Ibis Exie. It features air spring adjustment for rider weight, multi-position compression damping, and adjustable rebound damping to control how the fork responds to terrain.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Starting Sag: 20-24mm (recommended).
  • Maximum Air Pressure: 120 psi.

Usage Features:

  • Air Pressure Adjustment: Set using the traditional seated method to achieve the recommended 20-24mm sag. Air pressures are adjusted up or down from the starting points provided in the chart.
  • Compression Adjust (FIT4): Features a 3-position on-the-fly adjustment (remote lever) to control fork performance based on terrain changes.
    • OPEN mode: For rough descending. This mode also offers 18 additional fine-tuning adjustments, with setting 18 being the most plush and setting 1 the firmest.
    • MEDIUM mode: For undulating terrain.
    • FIRM mode: For smooth climbing.
  • Rebound Adjust (FIT4): Controls the rate at which the fork extends after compressing. The rebound knob is turned clockwise to the closed position, then backed out counter-clockwise to the number of clicks specified in the chart.

Fox Float DPS Shock

Function Description: The Fox Float DPS shock is a rear suspension component for the Ibis Exie, designed to provide adjustable damping and air spring performance. It features a 3-position compression lever and adjustable rebound to optimize the bike's rear suspension for various riding conditions.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Starting Sag: 25% (11mm) (recommended).
  • Maximum Air Pressure: 350 psi.
  • Air Pressure Chart:
    • <100 lbs: 100 psi
    • 100-120 lbs: 120 psi
    • 120-140 lbs: 140 psi
    • 140-160 lbs: 160 psi
    • 160-180 lbs: 180 psi
    • 180-200 lbs: 200 psi
    • 200-220 lbs: 220 psi
    • 220-240 lbs: 250 psi
  • Rebound Settings (Open to Closed):
    • <100 psi: Open (counter-clockwise)
    • 100-120 psi: 11 clicks
    • 120-140 psi: 10 clicks
    • 140-160 psi: 9 clicks
    • 160-180 psi: 8 clicks
    • 180-200 psi: 7 clicks
    • 200-220 psi: 6 clicks
    • 220-240 psi: 5 clicks
    • 240-260 psi: 4 clicks
    • 260-280 psi: 3 clicks
    • 280-300 psi: Closed (clockwise)

Usage Features:

  • Air Pressure Adjustment: Set using the traditional seated method to achieve the recommended 25% sag (11mm). Air pressures are adjusted up or down from the starting points provided in the chart.
  • Compression Adjust (3-Position Lever): Features a 3-position on-the-fly adjustment (remote lever) for Open, Medium, and Firm modes.
    • OPEN mode: Tunable for low-speed compression damping. It offers 3 additional fine-tuning adjustments (1, 2, or 3) by lifting and rotating the adjuster. Setting 1 is plush, setting 3 is firm.
    • MEDIUM mode: Preset for general riding.
    • FIRM mode: Preset for climbing or pavement.
  • Rebound Adjust: Controls the rate at which the shock extends after compressing. Adjusted by turning the red dial on the inside of the lever. The ideal setting is as fast as possible without getting bounced off the saddle. Too slow leads to "packing down," while too fast causes bouncing.

Full Suspension Bike Torque Specifications

Maintenance Features: The guide provides a comprehensive list of torque specifications for various hardware components on the full suspension bike, ensuring proper assembly and preventing damage.

  • Cable Ports (Ripley AF / Ripmo AF only): 2 Nm (Grease)
  • Derailleur Hanger Bolt: 5 Nm (Grease)
  • Downtube Rock Guard (Ripley / Ripmo only): 2 Nm (Loctite 243)
  • Forward Shock Mount Bolt: 10 Nm (Loctite 243)
  • Lower Link 6mm Preload Bolts: 2 Nm (Loctite 243 on threads, grease on flange)
  • Lower Link Pinch Bolts: 10 Nm (Loctite 243)
  • Lower Shock to Clevis Bolt: 20 Nm (Ti anti-seize)
  • Swingarm to Clevis Pivot Bolts: 10 Nm (Loctite 243)
  • Rear Brake Caliper: 6 Nm (Loctite 243)
  • Seat Binder: 5 Nm (Ti anti-seize)
  • Upper Link Bolts: 10 Nm (Loctite 243)

Bushing Maintenance:

  • All models: Apply Slick Honey (grease) to all bushings during reassembly.

Hexle Rear Axle:

  • There is no numerical torque figure for the Hexle. It is recommended to tighten the 5mm with a multi-tool for easy removal in case of a flat.

General Notes:

  • Loctite 243: Shake the bottle well before applying.
