Note: There may be devices installed that only require either the A or B side circuit breaker to control the
device's power. If the device only requires an A or B side circuit breaker, conrm where the -48V DC
power cable should be connected.
Attention: If the product to be connected to the PDP has two power supplies [1 (A) and 2 (B)]
ensure that the connections are made to matching circuit breakers, i.e. circuit breakers A2 and B2,
A4 and B4, etc.
Attention: If there are units already installed in the rack and the units are powered on, ensure the
you are ready for the new components to be connected to the PDP.
To connect the system component power to the PDP, complete the following steps:
Procedure
1. If the rack already has DC power applied, continue with the next step. If the rack does not have DC
power applied, go to step 2.
DANGER:
If you do not disconnect the -48V DC power sources to the rack, the cable installation must be
performed by a qualied electrician.
a. Remove the cable channel cover. To remove the cable channel cover, complete the following steps:
1) Loosen the four retaining screws.
2) Align the larger openings in the cover with the retaining screw heads.
3) Lift the cover up to clear the retaining screws and remove it.
b. Remove the PDP top cover. To remove the PDP top cover, complete the following steps:
1) Remove the four retaining screws.
2) Remove the PDP cover.
DANGER:
Ensure that you have turned off the -48V DC A power sources that are connected to the PDP
before continuing.
c. After the -48V DC A power sources are turned off, be sure there is a tag or label over the A power
source switch or fuse (lock-out/tag-out) to indicate that the A power source has been turned off
intentionally.
d. Remove the A side plastic bus bar cover. To remove the A side plastic bus bar cover, complete the
following steps:
1) Remove the two retaining screws from A side cover.
2) Remove the A side cover.
e. Continue with step 2.
CAUTION:
Ensure that the circuit breaker the unit will be connected to has the proper current
rating, so that the unit is properly protected.
2. Connect the DC power cable for power supply 1 (A) to the PDP. To connect the DC power cable for
power supply 1 (A) to the PDP, complete the following steps:
Note: Tighten nuts securing the output connections to 5.6 newton-meters (50 inch\pounds),
maximum.
Note: Tighten screws securing the ground wire to the ground bus bar to 3 newton\meters (26.5 inch-
pounds), maximum.
a. Connect the -48V DC wire to the rst available circuit breaker lug on the A side.
