The preliminary setting of the print shaft establishes a
coarse timing of the two detent entry and withdrawal so
that the detents wi II not be engaged in their notches when
the type head and ti It ring are in motion. A more accu-
rate timing adjustment will be made later.
2. Tilt Selector Latches - Formthetwostoplugs (Figure 46)

set simultaneously (under the latch bai I) just as the cycle
cl utch check pawl drops into the notch on the check rat-
chet at the rest position (Fig. 47).
