• Place a lit match beside the burner (at the same
locationasthesparkershield).
• Pushandturnthecontrolknobtothehigh
position.

Turning o your side burner
Pushthecontrolknobinandturntothe"OFF"
position.Turnthegasoanddisconnectthecylinder
whennotinuse.Theregulatormustbedisconnected
whenthesideburnerisnotinuse.
FOOD SAFETY
Pleasereadandfollowthisadvicewhencookingon
your side burner:
• Always wash your hands before and after
handlinguncookedmeatandbeforeeating.
• Alwayskeeprawmeatawayfromcookedmeat
andotherfoods.
• Beforecooking,ensuresideburnersurfacesand
toolsarecleanandfreeofoldfoodresidue.
• Donotusethesameutensilstohandlecooked
anduncookedfoods.
• Ensureallmeatiscookedthoroughlybefore
eating.
CAUTION–eatingraworundercookedmeatcan
causefoodpoisoning(e.gbacteriastrainssuchas
E.coli)
• Toreducetheriskofundercookedmeat,cut
opentoensureitiscookedallthewaythrough
internally.
CAUTION–ifmeathasbeencookedsuciently
themeatjuicesshouldbeclearincolourand
thereshouldbenotracesofpink/redjuiceor
meatcolouring.
• Aftercookingonyoursideburneralwaysclean
thecookingsurfacesandutensils.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
• Regularly clean your side burner between uses
andespeciallyafterextendedperiodsofstorage.
• Ensurethesideburnerissucientlycoolbefore
cleaning.
• Donotleavetheunitexposedtooutsideweather
conditionsorstoredindamp,moistareas.
• Neverdousetheunitwithwaterwhenitssurfaces
arehot.
• Neverhandlehotpartswithunprotectedhands.
• Inordertoextendthelifeandmaintainthe
condition of your side burner, we strongly
recommendthattheunitiscoveredwhenleft
outside for any length of time, especially during
thewintermonths.
• IMPORTANT–Werecommendthatservicingof
this side burner should be performed either after
every100hoursofuseorannually,whicheveris
achievedsoonest.
• Changetheexibletubewhenthenational
conditionsrequireit.
• Donotmodifytheappliance.
Caution
Ifyousmellgas–extinguishtheburner.Ifthe
odour continues, immediately contact your gas
supplier.
Intheeventofanuncontrollablere,immediately
disconnectthegascylindermovingitawayfrom
reandcontactthereservices.DONOTPUT
YOURSELFATRISK!
Ensureaerosolsarenotusednearthissideburner
wheninuse.
Ensureallpackagingandplasticbagsaredisposed
ofsafely.
Burner (2) Maintenance
• Innormalusage,burningotheresidueafter
cookingwillkeeptheburnersclean.
• Theburnersshouldbecleanedannually,or
wheneverheavybuild-upisfound,toensurethat
therearenosignsofblockage(debris,insects)in
eithertheburnerportholesortheventuritubesof
theburnersttedoverthevalveoutlets.Ablocked
burnercanleadtoarebeneaththegrill.
• Visuallyinspecttheoperationoftheburners.
Seegurebelowshowingcorrectburning.
Thereshouldbeamefromallportholes.
STORAGE
Donotleaveyoursideburneruncoveredwhennotin
use.Storeyoursideburnerinacooldryplacelikea
shed or garage when not in use to protect against the
eectsofextremeweatherconditions,particularlyif
youlivenearcoastalareas.
Prolongedexposuretosunlight,standingwater,sea
air/saltwatercanallcausedamagetoyourappliance.
(Acovermaynotbesucienttoprotectyour
applianceinsomeofthesesituations).
• Covertheburnerswithaluminiumfoilinorderto
preventinsectsorotherdebrisfromcollectingin
burnerholes.
• If the side burner is to be stored indoors, the gas
cylindermustbedisconnectedandleftoutside.
Thegascylindershouldalwaysbestoredoutside,
inadry,well-ventilatedarea,awayfromany
sourcesofheatorignition.Donotletchildren
tamperwiththecylinder.
