The IKEA RENLIG DW60 is a dishwasher designed for domestic use, offering various washing programs and features for efficient dish cleaning.
Function Description
The RENLIG DW60 dishwasher is designed to clean household utensils suitable for dishwashers. It features an upper and lower basket for loading cutlery and dishes, a salt container for water softening, a detergent dispenser, and a rinse aid dispenser. The appliance operates through a control panel with an on/off button, a half-load button, a program selection/cancel button, and indicator lights for program status, rinse aid, and salt levels.
The dishwasher includes a water softener system to remove minerals and salts from the water supply, which can negatively affect appliance operation. Users can manually and electronically adjust the water softener level based on their local water hardness.
Several washing programs are available:
- Intensive: For heavy soil, crockery, pots, and pans, including a prewash, main wash up to 70°C, two intermediate rinses, a final rinse, and drying. This program supports the half-load option.
- Normal: For normal soil, crockery, pots, and pans, including a prewash, main wash up to 65°C, two intermediate rinses, a final rinse, and drying. This program also supports the half-load option.
- Quick: For normal or light soil, crockery, and cutlery, including a main wash up to 60°C and a final rinse. This program does not support the half-load option.
- Eco: For normal soil, crockery, and cutlery, including a prewash, main wash up to 50°C, one intermediate rinse, a final rinse, and drying. This is an economy washing program and supports the half-load option.
- Rinse & Hold: For any degree of soil and partial loads, offering one cold rinse to prevent food scraps from bonding. Detergent is not necessary for this program, and it does not support the half-load option.
The half-load option, when available, reduces the time duration and the consumption of water and energy. The appliance also features audible signals for program completion and malfunctions, which can be activated or deactivated.

- Water Softener Adjustment: Adjust the water softener level manually using a dial (positions 1 or 2) and electronically through the control panel. The electronic adjustment involves pressing and holding the program selection/cancel button in setting mode to cycle through levels indicated by flashing lights.
- Salt Container: Fill with 1.5-2.0 kg of dishwasher salt, adding 1 liter of water during the first operation. The salt indicator light will illuminate when refilling is needed.
- Rinse Aid Dispenser: Fill with branded rinse aid. The dosage can be adjusted (factory set at position 4). The rinse aid indicator light will illuminate when refilling is needed.
- Detergent Dispenser: Fill with powder, liquid, or tablet detergent. For programs with a prewash phase, additional detergent can be placed in the prewash compartment. When using detergent tablets, set water hardness and rinse aid dosage to the lowest levels, and it's not necessary to fill the salt or rinse aid dispensers.
- Loading Dishes: Load hollow items face down. Ensure cutlery and dishes do not overlap or block spray arms. Place small objects in the cutlery basket. Light items should be placed in the upper basket to prevent movement. The rows of prongs in the lower basket can be flattened for pots, pans, and bowls. Plates can be placed in the rear of the upper basket, tilted forward.
- Upper Basket Height Adjustment: The upper basket can be adjusted to accommodate larger items. To move to the upper position, pull the basket out and lift both sides until engaged. To move to the lower position, pull the basket out, lift both sides upwards, hold the mechanism, and let it fall slowly.
- Cancelling a Program: Press and hold the program selection/cancel button for approximately 3 seconds until the program indicator light goes off and the end indicator light flashes.
- Interrupting a Program: Open the door to pause the program. Close the door to resume from the point of interruption.
- End of Program: The appliance stops automatically, and audible signals operate. Open the door, press the on/off button, and leave the door ajar for a few minutes for better drying results before unloading.
Maintenance Features
- Filter Cleaning: Regularly clean filters A, B, and C under running water. To remove filters B and C, turn the handle 1/4 anticlockwise. Remove flat filter A from the bottom. Reinstall correctly, ensuring filter A is under guides D, and turn the handle clockwise to lock the system.
- Spray Arm Cleaning: If holes in the spray arms become clogged, remove remaining soil with a cocktail stick.
- External Cleaning: Clean external surfaces and the control panel with a damp soft cloth and neutral detergents. Avoid abrasive products, scouring pads, or solvents.
- Long Periods of Non-Operation: Disconnect the mains plug, close the water tap, and keep the door open to prevent unpleasant smells. Keep the inner side of the appliance clean, especially the filters.
- Frost Precautions: Do not install the appliance where the temperature is below 0°C. If this is unavoidable, empty the appliance, close the door, disconnect the water inlet hose, and remove water from it.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a "What to do if..." section to help diagnose and resolve common issues such as the appliance not starting, not filling with water, not draining, unsatisfactory cleaning results, limescale particles, wet/dull dishes, streaks, or dry water drop signs. Solutions include checking water tap, filters, hose connections, sink spigot, detergent quantity, salt/rinse aid levels, and water softener settings.
