4.7. Leakage current by means of current clamp
Apply measurement of leakage current and touch leakage current by means of current
clamp to hard-wired and three-phase equipments or in the case you can interchange
L-N on tested equipment in order to accomplish measurement in both L-N polarities.
4.7.1. PE current during operation and differential leakage current
PE current during operation should be measured on protective class I equipments
provided that it can be isolated from ground (from the earth potential).
See chapter 4.5. for details about insulating of tested equipments.
Step 1
Connect optional clamp P 8010 to terminal 9.
Step 2
Select the current clamp mode; proceed as follows:
Press the MENU key; the main menu is opened.
Use and keys to select submenu Set-up and press ENTER.
Use and keys to select item I external: No“. Press the ENTER key and release
it in order to select I external: Yes“.
Press the ESC key and release it (repeatedly) until you abandon (sub)menus.
Press the I
PE
key in order to select PE current during operation function or press the
I
DIFF.
key in order to select differential leakage current function.
Once the current clamp mode is set, it remains set even if the ESC 2051 is
disconnected from mains.
As long as the current clamp mode („I external: Yes“) is selected, X symbol
is displayed. There is no voltage present in Test socket 1 during measurement.
Step 3
Enclose either protective conductor (PE current during operation measurement) or L+N
conductors (differential leakage current measurement) with current clamp (Fig. 13).
Switch on the main switch of equipment under test; it starts to run.
