    • Main Burner Ignition: Depress and turn the control knob to "ON." The automatic solenoid valve energizes, opening gas passage to the main burner.
    • Turning Off: Depress and turn the control knob to "OFF."
    • Restart Interlock: A device prevents ignition until flame failure has stopped gas flow.
  • PYROGLOW® Gas Logs:
    • Realistic surface textures and colors.

    • Clean burner and control compartment of lint and dust (brushing and vacuuming at least once a year).
    • Remove and clean burners from the burner tray during annual service.
    • Clean logs with a soft, clean brush (logs are fragile).
    • Inspect the appliance and flue system annually.
  • Cleaning:
    • When the unit is cold, clean glass, louvers, and door with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
    • Retouch heat-resistant paint with paint supplied by the manufacturer.
  • Flame Check: Periodically check flames for steadiness and ensure they are not lifting off burner holes. Contact an authorized person if problems occur.
  • Log Replacement:
    • Unit should never be used with broken logs.
    • Turn off gas valve and allow unit to cool before opening the door.
    • Logs should only be replaced by an authorized Illusion representative.
    • Improper positioning of logs can cause soot buildup, carbon monoxide, affect heater performance, and void warranty.
  • Paint Curing: During the initial firing, the unit will produce some smoke and odor as the heat-resistant paint cures. It is advisable to run the unit on high without the fan for approximately 3-4 hours with windows and doors open during this period.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a guide for common issues such as pilot flame going out, main burner flame going out, heater turning off after 30 minutes, black soot on logs, rattling fan, strong odor/smoke on first use, and unit not lighting beyond pilot flame, along with possible causes and solutions.
  • Gas Tightness Check: After making gas connections, gas tightness must be checked.
  • Flue Spillage Test: The installer must perform a flue spillage test after installation to ensure proper draft. The heater should be lit and set to high for 10 minutes, then tested for draft at the base of the draft diverter with a smoke match or cigarette. A correctly operating unit will draw smoke into the draft diverter. If the flue is blocked or not producing sufficient draw, the heater must not be used until rectified.
