HOOD DUCTING GUIDE
Here are some important points to consider when
choosing and/or installing a range hood:
• Anexternallyductedrangehoodwillgenerally
outperformarecirculatingrangehood.
• Wediscouragetheuseofexibleductingasthis
hasasignicantnegativeimpactonairowand
noiseduetoturbulence
• causedbytheribs.Insteadconsiderusingsemi-
rigidorrigidduct.
• Avoidusinganarrowerductthanspeciedas
thiswillreduceairow;thebestperformanceis
obtainedwhentherangehoodisinstalledwitha
shortductwithminimalbends.
• Todeterminetherequiredclearancebetweenthe
cooktopandtherangehoodalwaysconsultthe
installationmanualforboththerangehoodand
cooktop.Therequiredclearanceisthegreater
ofthedistancespeciedineithermanual(anda
minimumof600mmbetweenthehighestpointof
thehighestburnerforgascooktops).
• Fivemetresistherecommendedmaximumlength
forducting(seediagram1.).Whentheducting
exceedsvemetresinlengththeinstallationofa
TD500orTD350in-linemotorisrequired,which
mustbeplacedonemetrefromtheexternalvent
(seediagram2.).
