Food Storage Guidelines:
- General Fridge/Freezer Use (ILREF256I/2):
- Fridge: Store liquids in the refrigerator uncovered. Hot foods should be allowed to cool to room temperature before being put into the refrigerator. Nothing should rest against the rear wall. Ensure good air circulation. Wrap or cover food before putting into the fridge. Sort foods prior to storing. Do not overfill.
- Freezer: Thawing frozen foods in the fridge compartment helps save energy. Never store raw meats on shelves above cooked meats or other produce. Freezer compartments are designed to store only frozen food. Follow instructions on food packaging for storage duration. Store food in small packages (ideally less than 1kg). Wrap food before putting into the freezer. Label food with type and dates. Once food is thawed, it must not be refrozen. Only defrost as much food as required. Bottled or canned drinks should not be stored in the freezer compartments. Maximum amount of fresh food that can be frozen within a 24-hour period is 2.5 kg.
- General Column Fridge Use (ILREF316/2):
- Similar guidelines to the fridge section of ILREF256I/2.
- Storage Zones: Different sections are designed for specific food types (e.g., butter, cheeses, jars, bottles, cooked food, yogurts, preserves, fresh meat, fresh fish, fruit, and vegetables).
- Shelf Adjustment: Shelves can be moved to accommodate different storage requirements. The wine rack is foldable.
- General Column Freezer Use (ILFRZ217/2):
- Similar guidelines to the freezer section of ILREF256I/2.
- Freezer Compartments: Designed to store only frozen food.
- Temperature Control: The bottom two sections are the coldest parts. The top two sections have raisable flaps for easy loading and unloading. The remaining sections are drawers.
- Super Freeze Function: Activates for 2 or 3 hours before introducing food to be frozen.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
- General Cleaning: Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before any cleaning or maintenance. Use a solution of bicarbonate soda and lukewarm water. Do not use abrasive products or detergents. Clean shelves, drawers, and balconies separately. Do not put them in the dishwasher.
- Drain Hole: The drain hole at the back of the fridge compartment should be cleaned regularly to prevent blockages.
- Condenser: The condenser at the back of the appliance should be cleaned periodically with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to ensure efficient operation.
Defrosting:
- ILREF256I/2 (Fridge): The fridge is self-defrosting. Any water created will run out through the channel at the back of the fridge, unless the drain hole is blocked. It is important to keep the channel clear at all times.
- ILREF256I/2 (Freezer): The freezer has a no-frost system, preventing heavy ice build-up. Manual defrosting is not required.
- ILREF316/2 (Fridge): The fridge is a forced air system, so it does not require any defrosting.
- ILFRZ217/2 (Freezer): The freezer is self-defrosting. Any water created will run out through the channel at the back of the freezer, unless the drain hole is blocked. The defrosted water is collected in the evaporating tray at the back of the appliance and dissipated by evaporation.
Troubleshooting:
- Appliance Not Working: Check if there is power, if the plug is inserted correctly, and if the fuse is blown.
- Appliance Working, But Not Very Well: Check if the appliance is overloaded, if the thermostat is set to an appropriate temperature, if the doors are closing properly, if the cooling system at the rear is clean, and if there is enough ventilation.
- Appliance is Noisy: Check if the appliance is level and stable, and if the side and rear walls are clear. Gurgling noise from the compressor is normal.
- Appliance is Beeping: The door is closed properly. An alarm will sound after 60 seconds of being open.
- Excessive Ice in Freezer: Check if the door seal needs to be replaced or if the appliance is incorrectly fitted. Ensure the door seal is clean and free of debris.
- Water in the Base of Refrigerator Compartment: Check if the drain hole is clear and not blocked.
