WARNING
Whenthe double locks are activated, the doors canno
longer be opened from the inside. People in the ve-
hicle cannolonger getout, e. g. in hazardoussitua-
tions.There is ariskofinjury
Therefore, do notleave anypeople unsupervised in
the vehicle, particularly children, elderly people or
people in need of special assistance. Do not activate
the double lockwhen people are in the vehicle.
If thevehicle has been lockedfrom the outside,
the double-lockfunction is activated as stan-
dard. It is then not possibletoopen the doors
from inside the vehicle. Youcan deactivate the
double lockfunction by deactivating the interior
motion sensor (see
“Interior motion sensor (where
fitted)” later in thissection
). The doors canthen be
opened fromthe inside after the vehicle has
been lockedfrom the outside. Youcan open the
rear doorsfrom inside the vehicle if they are not
securedbythe child-prooflocks(see
“Child safety
lock — rear doors”later inthissection
).Theanti theft
alarmsystem is triggered if the door is opened
fromthe inside. Switch off the alarm (see
“Anti-
theft alarm system (wherefitted)” later in thissection
)
WARNING
If persons(particularly children) are exposed to heat
or cold for aprolonged period, there is ariskofseri-
ousoreven fatalinjuries. Never leave persons(par-
ticularly children) unattended in the vehicle.

If youdonot open the vehicle within approxi-
mately 40 seconds ofunlocking, the vehicle will
lockagain and protection against theft is reacti-
vated.

NOTE
When the locator lightingisactivated, it lights up
when it is dark after the vehicle is unlockedwith the
remotecontrol (see separate operating instructions).
Youcan also set an audible signal to confirm that the
vehicle has been locked. The audible signal canbe
activated or deactivated using the on-board computer
(see “Activating/deactivating the acousticlocking
confirmation” in the “2. Instruments and controls”
section)
INTELLIGENT KEY
(where fitted)
Locking and unlocking centrally
Youcan start, lockorunlockthe vehicle using
theIntelligent Key. To do this, youonlyneed
carrythe keywith you. Youcan combine the In-
telligent Keyfunctionswith the functionsofa
conventional key. Unlockthe vehicle by using

The driver’s door and the door at whichthe
handle is used, must both be closed. The key
must be outside the vehicle. When locking or
