Theseatbeltshouldbe properlyadjustedtoasnug
fit.Failure to do so mayreducethe effectivenessof
the entire restraint system and increasethe
chanceorseverity of injuryinanaccident. Serious
injuryordeath canoccur ifthe seatbelt isnot worn
properly.
•
Always route the shoulder belt over your shoulder
and acrossyour chest.Never put the belt behind
your back,under your arm or acrossyour neck.The
beltshould be away from your face and neck, but
not falling off your shoulder.
•
Position the lapbelt as low and snug as possible
AROUNDTHE HIPS,NOTTHEWAIST. Alap beltworn
toohigh could increasethe riskof internalinjuries
in an accident.
•
Seat beltsare designed to bear upon the bony
structure of the body,and should be worn low
acrossthe front ofthe pelvis,chestand shoulders;
wearingthe lapsection of the belt acrossthe ab-
dominalareamustbeavoided.
•
No modificationsoradditionsshould be made by
the user whichwilleither prevent the seat belt ad-
justingdevices from operating to remove slack, or
preventthe seat belt assembly from being
adjusted to remove slack.
•
Seat beltsshould be adjusted as firmly as pos-
sible, consistent with comfort, to provide the pro-
tection for whichthey have been designed.Aslack
belt will greatly reducethe protection afforded to
the wearer.
•
Be sure the seat belt tongue is securely fastened
to the properbuckle.
•
Do notwearthe seat belt inside out or twisted.
Doingsomay reduceits effectiveness.
•
Donotallowmore thanone personto usethe same
seat belt.
•
Never carrymore people in the vehicle than there
areseatbelts.
•
Eachbelt assembly must only be used by one oc-
cupant;itisdangeroustoput abelt around achild
beingcarried on the occupant’s lap.
•
If the seat belt warning light illuminates continu-
ously while the ignition switch is in the ON posi-
tion,with alldoors closed, and allseatbelts fas-
tened, itmayindicate amalfunction inthe system.
Have the system checkedbyanINFINITI centre or
qualified workshop.
•
No changes should be made to the seat belt sys-
tem. Forexample, do not modifythe seat belt, add
material, or installdevices that maychangethe
seat belt routing or tension. Doing so mayaffect
the operationofthe seat belt system. Modifying
or tampering with the seat belt system mayresult
in seriouspersonal injury.
•
Onceaseatbelt pre-tensioner has been activated,
it cannot be reused and must be replaced together
with the retractor.See an INFINITI centre or quali-
fied workshop.
•
Removaland installation of the pre-tensioner seat
belt system components should be done by an
INFINITI centre or qualified workshop.
