The shoulder belt anchor height should be ad-
justedtothe position that is best for you. Failure
to do so mayreducethe effectivenessofthe entire
restraint system and increasethe chanceorsever-
ity of injuryinanaccident.
SEAT BELTMAINTENANCE
To cleanthe seatbelt webbing,
applyamildsoap
solution or any solution recommended for
cleaning upholsteryorcarpets. Then wipe
with acloth and allow the seat belts to dryin
the shade. Do not allow the seat belts to re-
tract
un
til they are

y.
If dirtbuilds up in the shoulder belt guide
of the
seat belt anchors, the seat belts mayretract
slowly.Wipe the shoulder belt guide with a
clean, drycloth.
Periodically checktosee thatthe seat belt and the
metal components
,suchasbuckles, tongues,
retractors, flexible wires and anchors, work
properly.Ifloose parts, deterioration, cuts
or otherdamageonthe webbing is found,
the entire seatbelt assembly should be re-
placed.
PRECAUTIONS ON CHILD RESTRAINTS
WARNING
Infantsandsmallchildrenshouldalwaysbeplaced
in an appropriate child restraint system while
riding inthe vehicle. Failure to useachild restraint
systemcan result in serious injuryordeath.
Infants and smallchildren should never be carried
on your lap. It is not possiblefor even the stron-
gest adult to resistthe forces of asevere accident.
Thechild could be crushed between the adult and
parts of thevehicle. Also, do not put the same seat
belt around achild and yourself.
Infants and children need special protection. The
vehicle’sseatbelts maynot fit them properly.The
shoulder beltmay come too close to the face or
neck.The lapbelt maynot fit over their smallhip
bones. In an accident, an improperly fitting seat
belt could causeseriousorfatal injury.
INFINITI recommends that the child restraint sys-
tem be inst alledinthe rearseat. According to acci-
dent statistics, children aresafer when properly
restrained in the rear seat rather than in the front
seat.
Child restraint systems specially designed for in-
fants and smallchildren are available fromseveral
manufacturers. When selecting anychild restraint
systems,placeyour child in the child restraintsys-
temand checkthe variousadjustments to be sure
that the child restraint system is compatible with
your child. Always follow the manufacturer’s in-
structions forinstallation and use.
Follow allofthe child restraint system manufac-
turer’s instructionsfor installation and use. When
purchasing achild restraint system, be sure to se-
lect onewhichwillfityour child andvehicle. It may
not be possibletoproperly installsome types of
child restraint system in your vehicle.
Checkthe child restraint system in your vehicle to
be surethat itis compatible with thevehicle’s seat
belt system.
Forafront-facing child restraint system, checkto
make sure the shoulder belt does not fit close to
child’s face or neck.
