Roof-mounted curtain side-impact
supplemental air bag system
This systemcan help cushion the impact force
to the head of the driver and passengers in front
and rear outer seating positionsincertain side-
impact collisions. The roof-mounted curtain
side-impact supplemental air bag is designed
to inflate o
nthe side where the vehicle is im-
pacted.
The SRS is designed to supplement the crash
protection provided by the driver and front pas-
sengerseatbelts and is not designed to substi-
tute them. Seatbelts should alwaysbecorrectly
worn and the driver and front passenger seated
asuitable distanceawayfrom the steering
wheel, instrument paneland front door finish-

Afterplacing the ignition switch in the ON or
STARTposition, the air bag warning light will
illuminate. The air bag warning light will turn
off within afew seconds after the engine is
started if the system is operational. See
Warn-
ing lights,indicator lights and audible reminders in

for further
details.
Theair bag will operate only when the ignition
switch is in the ON or STARTposition.
Driver andfront passengerair bags:
WARNING
Thesupplemental front-impact air bags ordinarily
will not inflate in the event of aside impact, rear
impact, rollover,orlower severity frontalcollision.
Alwayswearthe seat belts to help reducethe risk
or severity of injuryinaccidents.
The seat belts and the supplementalfront-impact
airbags are most effective when youare sitting
wellbackand upright in the seat. The front-impact
airbags inflate with great force. If youare unre-
strained, leaningforward, sitting sideways, or out
of position in any way, youare at greater risk of
injury or death in an accident. Youmay also re-
ceive serious or fatalinjuries from the supplemen-
talfront-impactairbagifyouareupagainstitwhen
it inflates. Always sitbackagainst the seatback
and as farawayaspractical from the steering
wheel. Always usethe seat belts.
WARNING
NEVER use arearward facing child restraint on a
seat protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG in front of it,
DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY to the CHILD canoccur.

INFINITI recommends that infantsor smallchildren
should be seated in achild restraint on the rear
seats if available.Accordingtoaccident statistics,
children aresafer when properly restrained in the
rear seat than in thefront seat. See Child
