If yousecure achild on the front passenger seat in
arearward-facing child restraint system, always
ensurethatthe passenger’s air bag is disabled.
The<PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF> indicator lamp
must light up.Ifthe <PASSENGER AIR BAG ON> in-
dicatorlamp lights up, the passenger’s air bag
could be deployed in the event of an accident. The
child could be struckbythe air bag. There is an
increased risk of injury, possiblyeven fatal. See
Child restraints earlier in thissection
.
Children maybeseverely injured or killed when
the air bags inflate if they are not properly re-
strained. See Child restraints earlier in thissec-
tion
.
Never let children rideunrestrained orextend their
hands or face out of the window.Donot attempt to
hold them in your laporarms.
Side and curtain air bags:
WARNING
Thefront seat-mountedside-impact supplemental
air bags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact
supplemental air bags ordinarily will not inflate in
the event of afront impact, rear impact, rollover,
or lowerseverity side collision. Alwayswearthe
seat belts to helpreducethe risk or severity of
injuryinaccidents.
Theseatbelts,the front seat-mountedside-impact
supplemental airbags and roof-mounted curtain
side-impact supplemental air bags are most effec-
tive when youare sitting well back and upright in
the seat. The frontseat-mounted side-impact
supplemental airbags and roof-mounted curtain
side-impact supplemental air bags inflate with
great force. If youand your passengersare unre-
strained, leaning forward,sitting sideways, or out
of position in any way, youand your passengers
are at greaterrisk ofinjury or death in an accident.
Do notallow anyone to placetheir hands, legs, or
face near the front seat-mounted side-impact
supplemental airbags and roof-mounted curtain
side-impact supplemental air bags on the sides of
theseatbackofthe front seats or near the side
roof rails. Do not allow anyone sitting in the front
seats or rear outer seats to extend their hands out
of the windows or lean against the doors.
When sitting in the rear seats, do not hold onto
the seatbackofthe front seats. If the front seat-
mounted side impact supplemental air bags and
roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental
air bags inflate, youmay be seriously injured. Be
especially careful with children, who should al-
ways be properly restrained.
Donot useseatcoverson thefrontseatbacks.They
mayinterfere with the front seat-mounted side-
impact supplemental air bag inflations.

Pre-tensioner seat belt system
WARNING
The pre-tensioners cannot be reused after activa-
tion.They must be replaced together with the re-
tractor and buckleasaunit.
If thevehicle becomes involved in acollision but a
pre-tensioner is not activated, be sure to have the
pre-tensioner system checkedand, if necessary,
replaced by an INFINITI Centre or qualified work-
shop.
No unauthorized changes should be made to any
components orwiring ofthe pre-tensionersystem.
Thisistoprevent damagetooraccidental activa-
tion ofthe pre-tensioners.Tampering with thepre-
tensioner system mayresult in serious personal
injury.
Work around and on the pre-tensioner system
should be done by an INFINITI Centre or qualified
workshop.Installation of electrical equipment
should also be done by an INFINITI Centre or quali-
fied workshop.Unauthorized electricaltest equip-
ment andprobing devices should not be used on
the pre-tensioner system.
Ifyouneed todispose ofthe pre-tensioneror scrap
thevehicle, contact an INFINITI Centre or qualified
workshop.Correct pre-tensioner disposal proce-
dures are set forth in the appropriate INFINITISer-
vice Manual. Incorrect disposal procedures could
causepersonal injury.
