Do notplace any objectsnearthe seatbackofthe
frontseats. Also, do not placeany objects (an um-
brella,bag, etc.)between the front door finisher
and the front seat. Such objects maybecome dan-
gerous projectilesand cause injuryifaside air bag
inflates.
•
Directlyafterinflation,severalairbagsystemcom-
ponents will be hot. Do not touchthem; youmay
severely burnyourself.
•
No unauthorised changes should be made to any
components or wiring of the air bag system. This
is to prevent accidental inflation of the air bag or
damage to the air bag system.
•
Do not make unauthorized changes to your vehi-
cle’selectrical system, suspension system or side
panel. This could affect proper operation of the
side air bag and curtain air bag systems.
•
Tampering with the air bag system mayresult in
seriouspersonal injury. Tampering includes mak-
ing changestothe steering wheel and the instru-
mentpanel assembly by placing material over the
steering padand above the dashboard, or by in-
stallingadditionaltrim materialaround theair bag
system.
•
Do not attachany objects to the steering wheel
pad or to the instrumentpanel.Objects attached
to the steering wheel pad and instrument panel
maybecome dangerous projectiles and cause in-
juryifthe air bag inflates.
•
Work on and around the air bag system should be
done by an INFINITI Centre or qualified workshop.
Installation of electrical equipment should be
donebyanINFINITI Centre or qualified workshop.
TheSRS wiring harnesses should not be modified
or disconnected. Unauthorised electrical test
equipmentand probing devicesshould not be used
on the air bag system.
REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
PROCEDURE
WARNING
•
Once the air bags have been inflated, the air bag
moduleswillnot function and must be replaced.
Theair bag modules must be replaced by an
INFINITI Centre or qualified workshop.The inflated
airbag modules cannot be repaired.
•
The air bag systemsshould be inspected by an
INFINITI Centre or qualified workshop if there is
any damage to the front end or side por tion of the
vehicle.
•
When selling your vehicle, we request that youin-
form the buyer about the air bag system and guide
the buyer to the appropriate sectionsinthisOwn-
er’s Manual.
•
If youneed to dispose of the SRS or scrap the ve-
hicle, contact an INFINITI Centre or qualified work-
shop.Correct disposal procedures are set forth in
theappropriate INFINITI Service Manual. Incorrect
disposal procedures could causepersonal injury.
•
If there is an impactto your vehiclefrom any direc-
tion,your automatic front-passenger air bag de-
tection system should be checkedbyanINFINITI
Centre or qualified workshop to verifyitisstill
functioning correctly.The automaticfront-passen-
gerair bag detection system should be checked
even if no air bags deploy as aresult ofthe impact.
Failure to verifyproper automatic front-passenger
air bag detection systemfunction mayresult in an
improper air bag deployment resulting in injuryor
death.
Theair bags and pre-tensioner seat belts are
designedtoactivate on aone-time-only basis.
As areminder,unlessthe SRS air bag warning
light is damaged, the SRS air bag warning light
remainsilluminatedafterinflation has occurred.
The repair and rep

ment of the SRS should
be done only by an INFINITI Centre or qualified
workshop.
When maintenancework is required on the ve-
hicle, informationabout the air bags, pre-ten-
sioner seat belts and related partsshould be
pointed out to the person performing the main-
tenance. The ignition switch should alwaysbe
in the OFFposition whenworking under the bon-
net or inside the vehicle.
