It might be that the compressor is operating above its rated pressure, in which case you should set the pressure to the correct rating for the machine. Other causes include a contaminated separator cartridge (change the air filter and separator cartridge), low voltage (ensure voltage does not drop below 10% on start up and 6% running), unbalanced voltage (correct the incoming supply voltage), a damaged airend (change the airend), or contaminated compressed air filters (replace the air filters).
