Overview

This document provides assembly instructions for an Instant Comfort mattress, specifically for Q2 and Q3 models. The mattress system is designed to offer adjustable firmness through air chambers controlled by an air control unit and hand controls.

Function Description:

The Instant Comfort mattress system allows users to customize the firmness of their bed. It consists of air chambers that can be inflated or deflated using an air control unit and individual hand controls. This adjustability aims to provide personalized comfort and support for a better night's sleep. The Q3 model includes an additional comfort layer for enhanced cushioning. The system is designed for use with an existing base, foundation, or adjustable platform.

Important Technical Specifications:

The mattress system includes several key components:

  • Top Cover: The outermost layer that zips onto the bottom cover.
  • Comfort Layer (Q3 Only): An additional layer placed over the air chambers in Q3 models, likely providing extra cushioning and pressure relief.
  • Air Chambers (1 or 2): The core components that inflate and deflate to adjust firmness. The number of chambers depends on whether the mattress is a single or dual-zone system (e.g., for two sleepers with individual preferences).
  • Unwrapped Rail Set: Foam rails that form the perimeter of the mattress, providing structure and containing the air chambers.
  • Bottom Cover: The base layer of the mattress, with a zipper for attaching the top cover and holes for passing air tubes.
  • Air Control System: This includes the control unit (pump) and hand controls. The control unit inflates and deflates the air chambers, while the hand controls allow users to select their desired firmness level.

Usage Features:

  1. Component Verification: Before assembly, users are instructed to unpackage all components and verify that everything required is present. Packaging should be immediately discarded due to choking hazard.
  2. Foundation Requirement: The system requires an existing base, foundation, or adjustable platform for proper setup.
  3. Bottom Cover Placement: The bottom cover is placed on the foundation with the zipper side up and the two holes positioned at the head of the bed.
  4. Rail Installation: Head, foot, and side rails are inserted inside the bottom cover, ensuring the "This Side Up" label is visible. The rails should fit snugly.
  5. Air Chamber Insertion: If the mattress has two chambers, they are placed one after the other. Tubes from the air chambers must be passed through the designated holes in the bottom cover.
  6. Air Control Unit Connection: Tubes from the air chambers are connected to the connectors on the control unit, ensuring a "Click" sound for secure attachment. Users should keep track of which hose connects to which side of the pump to ensure correct hand control operation.
  7. Power and Hand Control Connection: The air control unit is connected to a powered surge protector (not included but strongly recommended to prevent electrical damage not covered by warranty). Hand controls are plugged into each side of the control unit; each hand control operates the air chamber on the side it is plugged into.
  8. Auto-Inflation: When the controller boots, pressing "1" on a hand control initiates auto-inflation of the corresponding air chamber. The pump fills one side at a time, and inflation may take up to 5 minutes per side. The process is repeated for the second chamber if applicable.
  9. Chamber Positioning: After inflation, both air chambers should be positioned evenly inside the foam rails.
  10. Comfort Layer Placement (Q3 Only): For Q3 models, the comfort layer is placed across the top of the air chambers.
  11. Top Panel Placement: The top panel is placed across the top of the mattress, with the tag facing the head of the bed. The fire barrier fabric should be placed over the foam rails.
  12. Top Panel Zipping: The top panel is zipped onto the bottom cover, taking care not to snag the covers or any internal materials.
  13. Firmness Adjustment: Users are recommended to start at the most firm setting, then gradually reduce firmness until it is softer than desired, and finally increase firmness incrementally to find their ideal setting.

Maintenance Features:

  • The document does not explicitly detail maintenance features beyond the initial setup. However, the modular design with removable covers suggests that components like the top cover might be removable for cleaning or replacement.
  • The recommendation to use a surge protector implies a focus on protecting the electronic components (air control unit) from electrical damage, which is a form of preventative maintenance for the system's longevity.
  • The warranty information, mentioned in relation to the surge protector, would provide details on coverage for potential issues and likely guide users on proper care and maintenance procedures.
  • Contact information (www.instantcomfort.com) is provided for users with problems, questions, or comments, indicating support for troubleshooting and ongoing assistance.
